The Department of Education has revoked programs in California and Oregon that diverted student aid targeted for low-income students, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to illegal immigrants. The money came from the TRIO Program (this is not an acronym; it refers to the three — trio, get it? — original aid programs: Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services) and was made possible by a waiver of the law's requirement that only citizens and resident aliens were eligible.
California’s waiver began in November 2022 and was set to expire in September 2026. The program in Oregon began in October 2023 and was set to expire in September 2027. Biden was in the process of expanding eligibility via the rulemaking process when time ran out on him.
The diversion of funds from needy and vulnerable Americans to illegals was carried out under the auspices of the Performance Partnership Pilots for Disconnected Youth (P3) which is supposed to provide aid to people "between the ages of 14-24 who are low-income and are homeless; in foster care; involved in the juvenile justice system; unemployed; or not enrolled in or are at risk of dropping out of an educational institution."
“American taxpayer dollars will no longer be used to subsidize illegal immigrants through Department of Education programs,” said Acting Under Secretary James Bergeron. “The TRIO Program was designed to provide support and guidance to disadvantaged Americans as they navigate the road to and through postsecondary education. The Department will not allow the true purpose of the program to be corrupted to advance an American-last agenda.”
The obvious questions here are: a) Who thought this was a good idea, and b) Where were Congress and the press when this was going into effect? Because the "waivers" Biden granted directly violated federal law. Time and again, we saw actions by Biden that are more easily explained by the Great Replacement Theory in execution than by mere Biden-level stupidity. We saw illegals recruited from Third World hellholes and flown deep into the United States. At their destination, they were given housing, food, cash assistance, a phone, and who knows what else. At the same time, disaster relief in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina were, seemingly, deliberately delayed. The recovery policy in Western North Carolina could easily be mistaken for a concerted program of ethnic cleansing.
In this case, money for the hardest-to-serve American kids and young people was ripped off to provide educational benefits for illegals.
