President Donald Trump is preparing to sign an executive order offering reinstatement to active duty to all members of the Armed Forces who were discharged for refusing to take the COVID vaccine while Joe Biden was president.

"The Executive Order directs the Secretary of Defense to reinstate all members of the military (active and reserve) who were discharged for refusing the COVID vaccine and who request to be reinstated," according to the White House fact sheet.

The service members who are reinstated will be restored to their prior rank, and will be provided back pay and benefits, according to the fact sheet.

"From 2021 to 2023, the Biden Administration and former Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discharged over 8,000 troops solely due to their COVID-19 vaccination status," the fact sheet notes. "After the vaccine mandate was repealed in 2023, only 43 of the more than the 8,000 troops dismissed elected to return to service under the Biden Administration and Secretary Austin."

As the fact sheet notes, only 43 of the 8,000+ troops discharged for refusing to take an experimental drug have elected to return to active duty. It will be interesting to see if having a new commander-in-chief at the helm attracts more people.

The COVID order was one of the greatest breaches of faith ever perpetrated on the Armed Forces by the civilian and military leadership. One of the vaccines had FDA approval; the other didn't. The military treated them all equally with what will be discovered to be Agent-Orange levels of injuries.

I don't know what process will be used for this. Typically, a reinstatement order would be processed by a records correction board, which would calculate backpay and ensure you are promoted with your peer group.
