While You Are Worrying About Hostages and Terrorism the State Department Is Dealing With the Real Issue in Afghanistan

It’s nice to have the adults back in charge.

Over the last few days, we’ve seen a lot of ugly stuff. A pre-depression jobs report (Joe Biden’s Happy News Is Turning Into a Jobs, Afghan Horror Story). An increase in the inflation rate that veritably screams “buy gold.” (See Another Inflation Record Gets Broken as Biden’s Senility Hits Home.) Revelations that the head of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases jefe, Anthony Fauci, lied to the US Senate about illegally funding “gain of function” and may have significantly contributed to the current pandemic (The Intercept’s New COVID Report Confirms What RedState Reported in May 2021) seem sure to bring congressional attention the next time Fauci appears on Capitol Hill.

In Afghanistan, we are still in the throes of a national humiliation. Americans and green-card holders deliberately abandoned by the State Department, Leaked Email Reveals How the State Department Obstructed Private Efforts to Save Americans at Mazar-i-Sharif. This situation seems all but certain to devolve into a hostage crisis on par with that in Iran in 1979, Did the State Department Just Confirm the Hostage Situation in Afghanistan?. The new Taliban government is composed of hardened terrorists, some of whom were imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay when they were traded for the traitorous Bowe Bergdahl; see Things Look Bright for US Diplomacy as Club Gitmo Alumni and Al Qaeda Terrorists Lead the New and Moderate Taliban Government of Afghanistan. But in Foggy Bottom, Antony Blinken’s steely eye is focused, laser-like, on the real issues.

Yesterday the Taliban named a new interim government. We’re assessing the announcement, but despite professing that a new government would be inclusive, the announced list of names consists exclusively of individuals who are members of the Taliban or their close associates, and no women. We’re also concerned by the affiliations and track records of some of those individuals. We understand the Taliban has presented this as a caretaker cabinet. We will judge it, and them, by its actions. The international community has made clear its expectation that the Afghan people deserve an inclusive government.

Yes, indeedy. Gotta have “inclusive.”

As I noted in my post on the make-up of the new Taliban government ( Things Look Bright for US Diplomacy as Club Gitmo Alumni and Al Qaeda Terrorists Lead the New and Moderate Taliban Government of Afghanistan), why did anyone ever think these people are anything other than what they’ve told and shown you to be for some thirty years.

Our nation’s foreign policy is in the hands of idiots. Not just one idiot like Blinken, but the spawn of generations of inbreeding, groupthink, and total lack of accountability. These people have been recruiting and hiring in their own image for over a half-century. They don’t have ideas. They don’t have plans. They don’t understand their own country, much less any other. As we confront a crisis in America’s ability to conduct diplomacy, all these cretins can do is worry about “inclusion” in a government that will never allow anyone other than a male Pashtun radical Islamist to hold any position of power. This is not now, nor has it ever been a closely held secret. The fact that our State Department is concerned about what is never going to happen and so self-absorbed that it is willing to demonstrate to the world its lack of seriousness shows just how useless they are.
