Earlier today, New York City’s communist mayor, Bill de Blasio, announced that to visit restaurants, bars, or gyms in the Big Apple, you’d have to show proof of vaccination.

New York City will become the first U.S. city to require proof of vaccination for a variety of activities for workers and customers — indoor dining, gyms and performances — to put pressure on people to get vaccinated, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday morning.

The program, similar to mandates issued in France and Italy last month, will start later this month, and after a transition period, enforcement will begin in mid-September, when schools are expected to reopen and more workers could return to offices in Manhattan.

“It’s time for people to see vaccination as literally necessary to living a good and full and healthy life,” Mr. de Blasio said at a news conference.

“Not everyone is going to agree with this, I understand that,” he said. “But for so many people, this is going to be a lifesaving act, that we are putting a mandate in place that is going to guarantee a much higher level of vaccination in this city. And that is the key to protecting people, and the key to our recovery.”

Mr. de Blasio has been moving aggressively to get more New Yorkers vaccinated to curtail a third wave of coronavirus cases. He is requiring city workers to get vaccinated or to face weekly testing, and he has offered a $100 incentive for the public.

This is the announcement.

What strikes me about the policy is that de Blasio doesn’t even pretend that the policy is designed to protect public health. It is strictly a coercive measure designed to force vaccine-hesitant/resistant people to get the Wuhan shot so they won’t be needlessly f***ed with and Karened to distraction. I’m not a lawyer; I don’t even play one on the internet, but using a system of apartheid to bend people to your will (we’re told you can still spread the dreaded “Delta variant” even though you are fully vaxed) doesn’t seem like a legitimate use of state power.

Did I say “apartheid?” Yes, I did. Because the impact of this policy will fall disproportionately upon Black, Hispanic, and Asian communities in New York City, and, I would submit, because this is known by anyone who has the ambition to check the numbers, that is one of the intents of the policy.

Keep in mind; these are the same people progressives claim are incapable of getting a photo ID so they can vote; how ill they ever manage proof of vaccination.

If you have doubts about this being a sudden decision. Think again. Progressive commentator and noted baby-killer Lena Wen used nearly the exact same words as de Blasio used today back in April.

The question becomes the degree to which businesses will enforce the requirement, the number of fraudulent vaccination certificates in circulation, and the pain tolerance of the NYPD to enforce what will be a very, very, very unpopular edict by a mayor who has publicly buggered them every chance he’s gotten.
