Apparently it was a parody or homage or whatever to a dance I’ve never seen in a flick I’ve never watched. It first came to my attention when I noticed that leftwing twitter and other scolds were admonishing conservatives to lighten up and not pounce. In just a short time, a whole body of political journalism grew up like mushrooms after an warm spring rain chastising conservatives for being humorless scolds for attacking a beautiful and carefree young woman celebrating her beauty and general carefree-ness in dance.
The interesting thing is, that when you look around, you really don’t find anyone on the right…other than arguably GatewayPundit, but that goes without saying…who really cared.

If you read the article, you’ll be struck by the fact that not only was the video launched by a skeevy, now-deleted twitter account

But if you read the article, what is striking is that it is a compendium of comments by journalists, a stump-broke alleged former conservative, and Ocasio Cortez, herself, claiming conservatives are losing their crap over the video. When this guy made the claim

The question remains, who, exactly, cared about this? Thus far, every article I’ve read points to some nebulous attempt at “shaming” Ocasio Cortez. This is a sampling:
After a college-era video showing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, dancing made waves in conservative social media spheres, the newly elected lawmaker responded Friday with a new video of herself dancing – this time outside her congressional office.
Not a single direct example in the story other than two people identified as “conspiracy theorists.”
An attempt to humiliate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as she was sworn in as the youngest ever US congresswoman has backfired impressively, prompting a huge outpouring of support for her.
A 30-second video was posted by a Twitter user called AnonymousQ, showing Ocasio-Cortez dancing on the roof of a building while in college.
“Here is America’s favorite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is,” read the post, with the user, who has since deleted their account, claiming it was a “high school video of ‘Sandy’ Ocasio-Cortez”.

To a lengthy list of past misdemeanours, including her clothes and not being rich, can now be added the grievous crime of dancing while in college.
A day before Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was officially sworn-in, near decade-old footage of the congresswoman dancing as a student at Boston University re-emerged on Twitter, apparently in an effort to embarrass her.

On the eve of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s swearing-in as the youngest woman ever elected to the House of Representatives, video footage from her college days suddenly appeared on the internet.
The video showed Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, 29, dancing barefoot on a rooftop. If it was meant to be an embarrassing leak, it backfired badly.
The dance video — a mash-up of 1980s dance moves from the movie “The Breakfast Club” and the music of “Lisztomania,” by the French band Phoenix — proved to be too endearing to many social media users. Some also saw a right-wing effort to undermine Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, a liberal Democrat known as “AOC” among her fans.
The fact that the video has been on the internet for a few years and it surfaces via a now-defunct twitter account that seems to have been named by someone with a graduate degree in conservative stereotypes (QAnon1776, srsly?) and it sets up a cringeworthy stereotype of all conservatives to be set afire and chased down Pennsylvania Avenue by Ocasio Cortez and her fans in the media is, well, strange. As I noted, what makes it stranger is that absolutely none of the articles on the subject quote a single non-Democrat pundit or politician about why they are outraged. All the coverage is Democrats, or people so close to being Democrats that you could be forgiven for calling them one, talking about how conservatives are going crazy over this.
If we had an actually curious news media maybe someone would show the same interest in locating “QAnon1776” that they did in finding the guy who made the Trump-wrestling-CNN video. Maybe on the “media reporters” could inquire how all these stories, on the same theme, could be generated without ever pointing to a single person in the GOP who really cared.
