On Monday, liar and perjurer James Clapper was on CNN doing what he does best: lie. He was asked about Trump’s calling out of Russia in the National Security Strategy while at the same time exchanging compliments with Putin over the US assistance that enabled Russia to avoid a terror attack–which would probably have resulted in the wildly incompetent FSB and Spetsnaz killing a dozen or so innocent bystanders for every terrorist killed.

SCIUTTO: You heard the president’s speech today. He calls out Russia and China, describes them as rival powers, rival powers to the U.S., but also says he wants to build a great partnership with them and had all of these friendly stuff to say about his phone calls with Vladimir Putin this week.

Is that a contradictory message?

CLAPPER: Well, it is to me. I think this past weekend is illustrative of what a great case officer Vladimir Putin is. He knows how to handle an asset, and that’s what he’s doing with the president.

SCIUTTO: You’re saying that Russia is handling President Trump as an asset?

CLAPPER: That seems to be — that’s the appearance to me. So, you know, we’ve shared intelligence with the Russians for a long time. We’ve always done that. Although in my experience with them has been pretty much of a one-way street, where we provide them intelligence and we don’t get much back.

This is just #Resistance bullsh** that the credulous spooned up like it was chocolate mousse.

Today, it became really obvious just how morally and intellectually bankrupt Clapper is:

The Trump administration has approved the first ever U.S. commercial sale of lethal defensive weapons to Ukraine, in a clear break from the de facto U.S. ban on arms sales that dates back to the Obama administration. The move was heavily supported by top Trump national security Cabinet officials and Congress but may complicate President Trump’s stated ambition to work with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Administration officials confirmed that the State Department this month approved a commercial license authorizing the export of Model M107A1 Sniper Systems, ammunition, and associated parts and accessories to Ukraine, a sale valued at $41.5 million. These weapons address a specific vulnerability of Ukrainian forces fighting a Russian-backed separatist movement in two eastern provinces. There has been no approval to export the heavier weapons the Ukrainian government is asking for, such as Javelin antitank missiles.

First, I’m not gung-ho about providing lethal aid to Ukraine. I’ve never been gung-ho about it because the stakes are very high and killing Russian soldiers with American weapons simply increases the danger when I’m not convinced Ukraine has the will to win. Having said that, Putin’s adventure in Ukraine should be made as expensive for him as possible. We know that even at current levels of lethality that Russia is losing enough troops that they are pushing the funerals out of sight.

The M107AI is the military designation of the Barrett sniper rifle that fires the .50-cal BMG round.

Should the sale of Javelin anti-tank missiles be approved, that will have additional significance as it will negate the advantage the Russians have in armor.
