Yesterday  the brain trust on Morning Joe was discussing Donald Trump’s relationship with the press

[Donald Trump] is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job.

Stunning, huh?

Brzezinski was quick onto Twitter to try to spin her revelation:

She can say that all she wants but that clearly isn’t what she meant in the segment. The media do see themselves at the gatekeepers of what you know and, therefore, of what you think. Recall how fast they jumped on the #FakeNews bandwagon back in November only to hop off when people started cataloging their errors and outright fabrications. For eight years the media never blinked as it went along with lie after Obama lie (if you like your doctor; shovel ready jobs; the JV team; the Arab spring; nothing wrong with Hillary’s email; a 50 year low in the labor force participation rate is a non-story). What she’s actually complaining about is Trump poaching on what had been the territory of the media, that is, creating the news himself out of whole cloth.
