BREAKING. Ben Carson To Be HUD Secretary...Or Not

There are conflicting reports out right now. FoxNews is reporting that Ben Carson has accepted the position of Secretary of HUD

Reuters is saying, ummm, no

President-elect Donald Trump has not extended an offer to retired neurosurgeon and former presidential rival Ben Carson to head the Department of Housing and Urban Development, a Carson spokesman said on Wednesday, disputing a report by the Wall Street Journal.

“Trump did not make an offer,” Carson spokesman Armstrong Williams told Reuters. “He asked him to consider HUD. Nothing has been offered and no decision has been made.”

But strangeness has a way of attaching itself to everything Carson gets involved in.

To the merits, Ben Carson, with a competent staff, would be an admirable secretary of housing and urban development. He was raised in public housing. He was on faculty and Johns Hopkins University and was able to experience the ambiance of a failed urban neighborhood. Carson is not political scum that so often drifts towards HUD because of the epic amounts of waste there just waiting to be vacuumed. He is a decent man who genuinely cares about the less fortunate. He is a conservative after a fashion and would be very unlikely to continue to allow HUD to try to tell individual Americans where they could live under the fascist “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” rule.

So Carson, if he the nominee, is a solid choice. If he’s not, well, this isn’t the first head fake the Trump transition team has thrown us.
