Trump fellatistos, like the deranged Jim Hoft at GatewayPundit or “Joe Hoft” as he is known to Memeorandum:

(sorry, no links to sites that extol white supremacy and racism), are crowing today about Donald Trump’s victory in Oregon where he managed to lose a third of the vote — and 6 delegates — while running against no one (In 2012, Romney won 71% in Oregon and he still faced an opponent). Their talking point is that Trump has now racked up more primary votes that Mitt Romney.

Of course he has.

There are more voters today than there were in 2012. And there has been a higher primary turnout, though not for any of the reasons Trump and his fluffers would have you believe.

But the real story is that where Mitt Romney had 53% of the GOP primary votes, Donald Trump has 43%. This makes Trump the most unpopular GOP nominee in modern political history, beating even John McCain’s anemic 47%.

The Branch Trumpidians can crow all they want over this meaningless number but the facts remain that Donald Trump has been rejected by an overwhelming majority of GOP voters. He will go into the general election leading a fractured party that he is singularly unable to heal. He could very well win, because there hasn’t been a candidate as weak as Hillary Clinton since George McGovern. But if he does it will be because of Clinton’s efforts, not because of any strength on the part of Trump.
