Will Lavender Nazis Kill a Reality Show?

The one thing that we’ve learned in the ongoing war over homosexual marriage is that homosexuals are probably the most vicious and vindictive interest group in the nation. They are not content with mere equality but rather are obsessed with demanding that their particular brand of sexual deviance is not merely accepted but celebrated as something other that what it is.

Writing in “One Nation, Two Cultures” in 1999, the historian Gertrude Himmelfarb observed, ““What was once stigmatized as deviant behavior is now tolerated and even sanctioned; what was once regarded as abnormal has been normalized… As deviancy is normalized, so what was once normal becomes deviant.”

We’ve seen the light-loafered Gestapo relentlessly persecute bakers in Colorado and bed-and-breakfast owners in New York. We’ve seen a corporate CEO forced from his position for the sin of having contributed money to the cause of preserving Western Civilization on a California ballot measure. We’ve seen the mayor of Houston attempt to intimidate churches for opposing a city ordinance which would have made homosexual behavior a protected activity. A distinguished academic who found evidence that children raised by homosexual pairings fare much worse in all measurable outcomes than their peers (if you are surprised at this, raise your hand) was mercilessly harassed.

Now they have a new target for their ritualized two minutes of hate: a reality show called “19 Kids and Counting.” (Full disclosure, I’d never heard of the show until I read this article)

It started innocently enough

Last week, the couple posted a Facebook photo of them kissing and encouraged other married couples to share their own. The caption read, “God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun and romance,” it said. “We challenge all married couples to take a happily married picture and post it here.”

But a militant homosexual privilege activist named John M. Becker (@freedom2marry) just couldn’t let that challenge go by. He posted a picture of himself sucking face with his homosexual paramour.

This was just the lowest sort of trolling. Last year the LBGQTFZXCML community got its assless chaps in a wad because they discovered that the show’s co-star, Josh Duggar, belonged to the Family Research Council, a group dedicated to preserving marriage as the human race has always understood it (sorry no link to hate sites):

So, if you haven’t heard the news, Josh Duggar of the TLC reality series “19 Kids and Counting” is now the Executive Director of the Family Research Center’s Action Arm.

According to the Family Research Center (FRC), Josh “will bring his pro-life and pro-family passions to the political arena where he will help expand FRCA’s reach as a premier conservative advocacy group.”

In plain speak, Josh Duggar is going to help spread hate, discrimination, homophobia, ignorance, and intolerance — FRC style.

Quite honestly, all you really need to know about Josh Duggar is that he served as a surrogate for Rick Santorum during the 2012 Republican presidential primary – that bit of information should tell you all you really need to know about Josh, what he believes and what he will bring to the table in his new role in the political arena.

The Family Research Center is such a hate-filled, anti-gay organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2010 labeled it a “hate group” for its “dissemination of false and demonizing propaganda about gays and lesbians.”

So this guy, Becker, knew exactly what he was doing when he posted the image. Whoever runs the show’s Facebook page took down the image and banned the trolling Becker. Naturally, he cried foul. Now there is a “petition” at a website called “Change.org” to get the show’s owner, TLC, to cancel the show.

A petition on Change.org urging TLC to cancel the family’s reality show, “19 Kids and Counting,” is gaining momentum.

“End LGBTQ fear mongering by the Duggars,” a letter posted on petition page reads. “The Duggars have been using their fame to promote discrimination, hate, and fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people. You need to take a stand on the side of justice and cancel their show.”

The petition currently has over 12,500 signatures.

This has echoes of the short-lived suspension of Phil Robertson from the A&E reality show Duck Dynasty (I have watched this show and Uncle Si  is my role model) for observing that sexual immorality is sexual immorality regardless of how impeccably it is dressed. As an aiside, the website E Online tried to troll Phil Robertson’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson, on this and didn’t get far:

“They’re wonderful people,” Sadie, who successfully made it through the semi-finals on Monday’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, added of the Duggars. “And I actually wish I could hang out with them more because we actually do have a lot of the same values so it’s cool to be compared to them.”

What it demonstrates, though, is that allowing homosexual marriage will never be enough for the people pushing it because that is not their objective. Their objective is a complete re-ordering of the institution of marriage and with it society. The fact that they will not tolerate people who believes differently and the way they seek the professional destruction of anyone who disagrees with them shows that they have no place in a civil society.
