Perhaps nothing is more indicative of the true agenda behind the homosexual right movement than whining article in The Atlantic titled “Half of Americans Believe That Gay Sex Is A Sin.”

These three data points represent a significant divide in how Americans see the gay community. Half of the country sees homosexuality as sinful, opposes gay marriage, and believes businesses should be able to refuse to serve gay couples’ wedding ceremonies—maybe not quite the same half, but there’s probably a significant overlap. A 2013 Pew poll suggested that there’s a small group of Americans who see homosexuality as a sin but think gay marriage should be legal anyway, although that wasn’t as evident in this latest poll. Either way, this is a big change from a decade ago, when only a third of people supported legalization but 55 percent saw homosexuality as sinful.

As a social conservative I take cold comfort in the fact that in a nation where 78% of the population self identifies as members of religions that unambiguously condemn homosexual acts as sinful, only half adhere to their religious beliefs. The fact that the writer is concerned about the religious beliefs of Americans and thinks those beliefs should be up for grabs indicates that the driving force is not equal rights but acceptance.

Back in 1987, two homosexual activists, Marshall K. Kirk and Erastes Pill, wrote an essay called “The Overhauling of Straight America” which eventually appeared in book-length form modestly titled “After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the ’90s.” It opens this way:

The first order of business is desensitization of the American public concerning gays and gay rights. To desensitize the public is to help it view homosexuality with indifference instead of with keen emotion. Ideally, we would have straights register differences in sexual preference the way they register different tastes for ice cream or sports games: she likes strawberry and I like vanilla; he follows baseball and I follow football. No big deal.

At least in the beginning, we are seeking public desensitization and nothing more. We do not need and cannot expect a full “appreciation” or “understanding” of homosexuality from the average American. You can forget about trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing, with a shrug of their shoulders, then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won. And to get to shoulder-shrug stage, gays as a class must cease to appear mysterious, alien, loathsome and contrary. A large-scale media campaign will be required in order to change the image of gays in America.

When one looks at the bullying behavior of various homosexuals and their support groups, the strategy is to silence and intimidate anyone who dares to stand up to the notion that homosexual behavior. If you thought this was limited to small businessmen you are mistaken. What this essay does is foreshadow a direct assault upon religious liberty if that liberty happens to conflict to the idea that homosexuality is, to borrow the Kirk/Pill analogy, chocolate flavored ice cream.

Gordon College will spend the next year studying current campus policies on same-sex behavior, the college and its regional accreditation board announced.
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) discussed whether Gordon’s prohibition on “homosexual practice” conflicts with its accreditation standards at its September meeting, and has agreed to give the school time to examine its policy. Gordon had already formed a discernment committee after recently losing partnerships with nearby Lynn Public School District.

The new working group, which includes students, faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees, will read books, meet with experts, and talk with alumni, supporters, and others to discuss Gordon’s policies related to same-sex behavior. The group is expected to make an initial report before Thanksgiving.
One of the students on the committee is gay, and some of the faculty members have opposed Gordon’s policy on lifestyle, Rick Sweeney told the local business journal. An online petition to remove the words “homosexual practice” from Gordon’s list of banned activities has garnered more than 800 signatures from students, staff, alumni, and local residents. The majority of the signatures come from alumni.
“The current policy creates a sense of fear for LGBTQ students and is psychologically harmful to those in the community,” wrote Mandie Wilson, a 2012 graduate who majored in sociology. “Campus should be a safe place for all students.”

Mind you, the college is a Christian college and bans homosexual sex acts. It doesn’t ban homosexuals or limit their ability to declare themselves as such. In fact, the College’s Behavioral Standards states:

Those words and actions which are expressly forbidden in Scripture, including but not limited to blasphemy, profanity, dishonesty, theft, drunkenness, sexual relations outside marriage, and homosexual practice, will not be tolerated in the lives of Gordon community members, either on or off campus.

In the context of the statement, the prohibition on homosexual conduct is entirely understandable. But in the service of libido and perversion, a Christian college is being punished for being, well, Christian.

In the words of Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput:

My point is this: Evil talks about tolerance only when it’s weak. When it gains the upper hand, its vanity always requires the destruction of the good and the innocent, because the example of good and innocent lives is an ongoing witness against it.  So it always has been.  So it always will be.  And America has no special immunity to becoming an enemy of its own founding beliefs about human freedom, human dignity, the limited power of the state, and the sovereignty of God. 

Make no mistake about it. We 50% who know that homosexual behavior is sinful will be the next targets of the fascistic impulses of the homosexual equality movement. You can’t opt out of this. You will either acknowledge that homosexuality is natural and accept it in all its splendor or you will be punished. If you don’t think the impetus that put this college’s accreditation on the line can’t be used by Child Protective Services to interfere in what you teach your children you are sadly mistaken.
