So Long, 'ICE Barbie': As DHS Secretary, Kristi Noem Was the Architect of Her Own Demise
But Noem still has not learned this lesson. From her choice to do splashy photo ops and social media videos where she was featured instead of the work of DHS, FEMA, ICE, and Border Patrol, Noem's myopia in this area contributed to her downfall.
The letter documents several alleged instances in which leadership is said to have stymied the independent agency watchdog, including a critical probe into the Secret Service’s failures involving the assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Dem Congressman Hardest Hit After Newspaper Digs Into Illegal Immigrant He Brought to the SOTU
As of this writing, Moulton has not publicly commented on the story, which is kind of interesting considering he repeatedly bragged about inviting Gomes da Silva to the SOTU and sharing his story.

An Interesting Tidbit About Gun Ownership in Iran
Just to be clear, these are not lawful sales. These are black market gun sales taking place in the blackest corners of Telegram. They're conducted as they are because they're not legal, and that means there are a lot more guns in private hands than we might think.
Newsom Is the Barometer, and He Is Signaling a Leftist Hurricane
It is his cunning that we should pay attention to, because when he speaks, you get a great idea of what the Democratic voting base is thinking, or at least wants to hear.
Trump to Rubio: Here's Your Next Project
Trump welcomed the Inter Miami CF soccer club to the White House today, and there was a lot of talk about Cuba, as the club's co-owners, brothers Jorge and José Mas, are of Cuban descent.
How Ayatollah Khamenei Was Killed Has Been Revealed
The most significant target was Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whom Israel was able to eliminate last weekend when this US-Israeli military operation began. They used the Blue Sparrow missile, which was able to rain hellfire from the heavens—literally.
Yet Another Dem Trainwreck: Virginia Nominee Told to GTFO Over Racist, Antisemitic Old Tweets
Apparently, it is a feature, not a bug.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
It's been a busy week on the Hill, but, it being Friday, there's only one meeting/hearing formally on the agenda:
- House Appropriations, Legislative Branch Subcommittee — Budget Hearing – Library of Congress & U.S. Government Publishing Office
There were several key votes held on Thursday:

Democrats Continue to Slow-Walk Funding of DHS With Latest House, Senate Votes; Watch a Dem Run Away
And...it looks like we'll be seeing more congressional departures — for starkly different reasons. (See, e.g., Rep. Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Sen. Markwayne Mullin (OK).)
White House What's Up
President Trump's Friday is also chock full:
- 8:00 AM — THE PRESIDENT begins Executive Time — The White House
- 1:00 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in Signing Time — Oval Office
- 1:30 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Policy Meeting — Oval Office
- 2:30 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Meeting with the Secretary of War — Oval Office
- 3:30 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Meeting with the Secretary of the Interior — Oval Office
- 4:00 PM — THE PRESIDENT participates in a Saving College Sports Roundtable — East Room
After all that, the president will depart Washington, D.C., en route to Miami, Florida, where he'll be hosting leaders from Latin American countries at the Shield of the Americas Summit.
Keeping Up With the Cabinet
Sec. Homeland Security - Kristi Noem — 🤷♀️ She came up in today's rotation — what are the odds?

Full Court Press...
Confession: Things have been extraordinarily hectic in my world the past week or two, and that has hampered my ability to keep up with the court cases the way I normally would. There are articles on two or three court decision WINS in the works, plus a Skinny on SCOTUS that I hope to have published certainly by the end of the weekend. And then, next week, we should be back to our normal routine. So, apologies that this section has been a bit lacking of late. We'll get it back up and running shortly.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
As noted above, President Trump is hosting the Shield of the Americas Summit this weekend.
MORNING MUSING
There are, no doubt, multiple factors that played a role in President Trump's decision to move Kristi Noem out of DHS and onto the Shield of the Americas, but it's clear that the line of questioning pursued by Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) in Tuesday's Judiciary Committee hearing didn't come out of nowhere.
And Kennedy, being a well-educated and well-trained attorney, I'm confident, followed one of the fundamental rules of cross-examination when he questioned the DHS Secretary about the $220 million ad campaign: "Never ask a question you don't know the answer to." Noem's responses to his questions did her no favors.
Were they the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back? Or was this exchange an intentional (and necessary) off-ramp? We may never know for sure. Either way, my advice to anyone due to face questioning by Sen. Kennedy would be to never underestimate him.
