The majority for House Republicans may be whisker-thin, but they managed to defeat a resolution introduced by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie (KY-04) and Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) aimed at curtailing the prosecution of Operation Epic Fury.

The House of Representatives narrowly voted to allow President Donald Trump to continue Operation Epic Fury in Iran on Thursday.

A bipartisan resolution led by Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif., failed to pass after several Democrats joined most Republicans in sinking it.

The legislation was aimed at blocking Trump from using the Armed Forces in the joint U.S.-Israeli operation in Iran, which would likely force the strikes to grind to a halt.

The final vote tally was 212-219 in favor of the resolution (meaning it failed to pass). Two Republicans — Massie and Warren Davidson (OH-08) — joined with the Democrats to vote in favor of the measure. Four Democrats — Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Jared Golden (ME-02), Greg Landsman (OH-01), and Juan Vargas (CA-52) — voted with the Republicans, opposing the measure.

The Senate voted down a similar measure introduced by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), 53-47, on Wednesday.

Had the resolution passed both houses, President Trump undoubtedly would have vetoed it, so these votes were largely symbolic. Still, the fact that it did not underscores the fact that Operation Epic Fury has the backing of Congress (narrowly) — for now.

Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
