Welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing — where we take a quick look at the week’s most viewed stories in case you missed any of them. #1 - Report: The Reason Why WH Ignored Judge's Order Requiring Planeload of Gangbangers to Turn Around — by Bob Hoge
There will doubtless be a lot of lawfare around this one. The administration did not follow a federal judge’s order, and that’s got the left’s knickers in a twist. The administration's rationale may hold up in court, but expect a lot of screeching until then. As has become the norm in this day and age, though, the Democrats come out looking like ghouls. Here they are saying, “Bring the violent gangbangers back to America!”
It’s an argument that’s not going to help with their already plummeting approval numbers.
#2 - DC Judge Who Tried to Stop Deportations Gets a Harsh Message From El Salvador's President — by streiff
Bukele is a tough character whose uncompromising stance on law and order has transformed El Salvador from the most dangerous to the safest country in Central America; see El Salvadorian Hardman, President Nayib Bukele Wins Blowout Re-Election Victory – RedState. I'd much rather have Venezeuelan terrorists held in El Salvador than detained in America, and if it costs less in the process, that's a bonus.
The fact that the administration is pretty unrepentant about plane loads of TdA gangsters being dropped off in El Salvador with El Salvador's president basically flipping the judge off indicates something larger may be afoot.
#3 - Panic Hits Democrats As Trump Goes After Their Money and Infrastructure — by streiff
Strangely unmentioned in the article is the administration's assault on the motherlode of dark money in American politics: USAID. Shutting down the pipeline of federal money into shady NGOs and non-profits is, in my opinion, one of the critical reasons we haven't seen riots in the streets and mobs in front of Trump officials's homes.
“The breadth is breathtaking,” said Cole Leiter, executive director of Americans Against Government Censorship, a coalition of progressive groups and labor unions created last year to defend against an anticipated Republican assault. Taken together, Mr. Leiter said, the efforts amounted to an attempt “to cut the legs out from their opposition.”
It may “sound conspiratorial,” Mr. Leiter added, “but the reality is it’s a sober description of what they’re trying to do.”
This is only breathtaking because it involves Democrats. We conservatives call it "Tuesday." We've seen legitimate conservative 501(c)3s refused IRS certification or even decertified because their names included words like "Patriot" and "America."
#4 - Dem Civil War: Fetterman Tells AOC Exactly What He Thinks of Her on Fight Over CR—It's Not Pretty — by Nick Arama
Now, one of the people she was disturbed by who voted for the CR, and was a big voice against going to a shutdown, is Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA).
Fetterman just cut her to the quick, when he was asked about her comment on outrage and betrayal:
“I hope you can relay how little I care about her views on this,” Fetterman told The Hill Friday when asked about Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that Senate Dems who vote to advance the bill are betraying their House colleagues who voted against it.
“I’m going to stand on what I happen to believe is the right thing to do but ask her, ‘What’s the exit plan once we shut the government down?’ What about all the millions of Americans who are going to have their lives damaged?” he said.
“What about the ones that won’t have any paycheck? She’ll have her paycheck, though.”
#5 - JD Vance Shares Wife Usha's Hilarious Reaction to Tech CEO's Comments, They Make Her Even More Likable — by Sister Toldjah
Usha Vance has, understandably, taken on a mostly low-key role since becoming Second Lady, focusing primarily on adjusting to and fine-tuning her new responsibilities and helping (along with the VP) the Vance's three young children get situated in their new surroundings as members of the Second Family.
Unfortunately, being the spouse of Donald Trump's vice president has brought along with it the usual hate and bashing from the left. The mainstream media has gotten in on the action as well, with CBS News trying to drag Mrs. Vance's mother, University of California San Diego Sixth College provost Lakshmi Chilukuri, into the DEI debate because Mrs. Chilukuri, unlike JD Vance, is a proponent of DEI.
