As RedState previously reported, David O’Connell, Auxiliary Bishop of the Arch Diocese of Los Angeles, was found shot to death in his home Saturday afternoon. Known for his pro-life advocacy and beloved by many, O’Connell’s murder came as a shock to his community.
People described O’Connell as very accessible, friendly, generous with his time and having a great sense of humor. He was a Bishop of the people and closely involved in many parishes. “I’m very hurt – very hurt by his passing because he’s one of the most lovable persons I’ve met,” another parishioner, Gabriela Gil, said.
Now, police say they have a suspect in custody, though few details have been offered at this point, other than referring to the suspect as a man.
