Monday night, we heard the horrific news that dozens of migrants were found dead in a tractor-trailer near San Antonio, Texas. As of Tuesday afternoon, the death toll stood at 50, and over a dozen other people had been transported to the hospital for treatment of heat stroke, exhaustion, and dehydration.
There’s no way to look at this other than as an outgrowth of the out-of-control border situation, spurred by the feckless policies of the Biden administration. A reality that Texas Governor Greg Abbott rightly called out, noting the deaths show “the deadly consequences of (Biden’s) refusal to enforce the law.”

These deaths are on Biden.
They are a result of his deadly open border policies.

In response, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre remarked that “The fact of the matter is the border is closed.”
No matter how you slice it, that’s just flat-out wrong. Under no reasonable definition has the US/Mexico border ever been closed – but it’s a heck of a lot more open now than it was even two years ago.
Setting aside their penchant for playing fast and loose with the truth, the fact of the matter is the Biden Administration can’t seem to find its way out of a paper bag. The question is whether that’s a matter of institutional incompetence…or by design.
