Contemptible 'Journalist' Takes Cheap Swipe at Spencer Pratt, Ends Up Indicting the MSM Instead

Pratt for Mayor

I know that calling a journalist contemptible is a bit like calling water wet, but sometimes it's worth adding the word for emphasis because some folks out there in Media World are just a bit on the "extra" side when it comes to the things they "report," whether it's in an actual story or something said on social media.

We saw this, for instance, just a few days ago, when tabloidish-style LA-based outlet TMZ (Thirty Mile Zone) attacked L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt for the crime of not living in the Airstream trailer he has placed on his lot (and which features prominently in a powerful campaign ad) where his home once stood, while noting that he's been staying on and off at a hotel since the January 2025 Palisades fire.

As RedState reported, Pratt hit back by noting he was staying at the hotel primarily due to death threats because his Democrat opponents, including City Council member Nithya Raman, were labeling him a fascist. “I don't live at the Hotel Bel Air. I don't live in the Airstream. I don't live in Santa Barbara. I don't have a house. They burned it down," he added.

Regardless of this inconvenient (to the left/MSM) fact, the attacks from the liberal media on Pratt's residency persist, as further evidenced by a doubling and tripling down on the issue by a purported "journalist" for Variety magazine in response to a story about Pratt stating that if he doesn't win the mayoral race, he'll likely leave L.A.

Marlow Stern is listed as the "chief correspondent" for Variety, and in response to a write-up from the Deadline media outlet, Stern had this to say:

Now, one would think a response like the one Pratt gave him (see below) would give Stern second thoughts about what he wrote:

My house burned down. I lost everything. I can’t rebuild. As a 42 year old man with 2 kids, I’ve had to move into my parents’ house, and I’m getting attacked for that? This is journalism? This is why no decent people ever get into politics. This is why you only have goblins running everything. God help you if you try to make things right for your community…if you lose your entire town, “journalists” mock you for not making your kids sleep in the toxic dirt on your burned out lot. Who raised you, dude?

Instead of being contrite, Stern treated the fact that Pratt eventually (and understandably) blocked him as a badge of honor:

Later, he pretended to be the victim because of course:

As you read all of that, the bonus here is that Stern is - surprise surprise - an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Journalism at Columbia University, where he is no doubt busy training the next generation of woketivists to not understand the difference between temporary housing and an actual home.

Honestly, the fact that these media figures don't understand that such cheap attacks are more of an indictment against the media than their targets is just about par for the course. But it's worth calling out nevertheless to remind folks that trust in the Democrat-compliant press is at an all-time low for a reason.

'Nuff said.
