As RedState reported, there was yet another stabbing on Charlotte's light rail system, with the latest incident occurring last Friday night and involving an altercation between a rider on the light rail and a man who reportedly boarded the train and was drunk and acting erratically prior to the attack.
33-year-old suspect Oscar Solarzano is currently in police custody and is being held without bond. Solarzano, a Honduran illegal immigrant, is facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. ICE has also lodged an arrest detainer for him.
The crime comes just four months after 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death aboard the light rail train, allegedly by 34-year-old homeless man and repeat offender Decarlos Brown Jr, in a case that brought national attention to our Democrat-run city amid a crackdown on violent crime by the Trump administration.
This case, too, has also garnered national attention, with President Trump weighing in, stating, "What’s going on in Charlotte? Democrats are destroying it, like everything else, piece by piece!!!"
Information learned since the stabbing happened has made the whole situation more infuriating, because in addition to Solarzano being a twice-deported illegal, he also is - surprise, surprise - a repeat offender:
The Trump admin deported OSCAR GERARDO SOLARZANO-GARCIA in March 2018 on a deportation order, and he illegally re-entered the U.S. at the Texas border in March 2021.
He was deported a second time by the Biden admin, and illegally re-entered the U.S. after that at an unknown time & location as a gotaway.
He has prior convictions in the U.S. for robbery and illegal re-entry, and he has prior arrests in the U.S. for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and false ID.
Further, we also learned that Solarzano had already been banned from the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) prior to this incident:
Solarzano's first appearance was brief. He faced the judge by video using a Spanish translator. The prosecution says Solarzano shouldn't have been on the train at all because he was already banned from the CATS light rail prior to the attack.
An October situation involving a knife (but not an assault) is likely what led to the ban, according to local news reports.
Even more maddeningly, at least one witness told WSOC-TV's Joe Bruno that the stabbing probably never would have happened had a security guard been on the train, because of the suspect's behavior prior to the attack:
A person who was on board the light rail during the stabbing tells me the suspect, Oscar Solarzano, was drunk, actively drinking a BeatBox and harassing people on board.
[...]
The witness said if security was on board, it's highly unlikely this would have happened because security would have kicked him off for openly drinking and being disruptive.
It was likely because there was no security guard on board that the victim, 24-year-old Kevin Dobie, intervened:
People on board told [Solarzano] to stop and said there were kids on board. Solarzano apparently kept yelling and banging on things. The victim, Kenyon Dobie, told him to stop and leave everyone alone. The witness said Solarzano got in Dobie's face. The DA's office says Dobie felt in danger and pushed Solarzano over. The witness says when Solarzano got up, he pulled out a large knife and attacked Dobie.
Dobie, who is still hospitalized, is now sharing what he says happened:
“What I’m not going to allow is for you to attack random people for no reason, especially the elderly. How could he or she defend themselves?” Dobie said.
Dobie said Solorzano-Garcia confronted him directly, and after a brief exchange of words, pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
“I got a lot of blood in my lungs and they are trying to drain it out,” Dobie said in a video shortly after the attack. “It wasn’t God’s time for me to die and I appreciate that. I’m really in a lot of pain.”
WHEN WILL IT END?

“Man stabbed by illegal migrant on NC train was good Samaritan trying to help other riders: authorities”
The man stabbed was trying to protect people when attacked, prosecutors revealed.

After the outcry in response to Zarutska's murder, Charlotte's Democrat "leaders" pledged to beef up security on the light rail system. The stabbing of Dobie would seem to indicate that's not happening to any meaningful degree:
This ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT THUG was ALREADY BANNED from @CATSRideTransit & has a number of prior arrests!

And remember… he was DEPORTED TWICE!
What is it going to take for Charlotte’s leaders to wake up? https://t.co/37hoaPl1lI
One thing to note, however, is that Iryna's Law went into effect at the beginning of the month, something that may have contributed to Solarzano still being behind bars:
Without Iryna's Law, would the second Charlotte light rail stabber be out on the street right now? Wild that we even have to ask that question...

We'll keep you posted on developments in this case. As always, stay tuned.
Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do everything they can to interfere with and threaten ICE agents enforcing our immigration laws.
