It doesn't matter what the topic is, if it's a day ending in "y," Democrats are going to gaslight the heck out of it, something we've all become quite familiar with over the years, and especially in 2025 as they pull out all the stops to hamstring President Trump and his agenda.
On few issues has this been more glaringly apparent than on crime and illegal immigration, where we are constantly told that crime is not that big of a problem, we are "reassured" that whatever crime problems blue cities do have can be handled locally, and we're informed that the attacks against ICE are made-up stories.
It was the attacks against ICE that became a big bone of contention on CNN's "NewsNight" program on Wednesday, where Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) ended up getting embarrassed over facts he conveniently left out of an anti-ICE rant.

Goldman is a legend in his own mind, a trait that has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion, as we've extensively documented.
The latest instance happened in the context of a debate over whether ICE should be wearing masks when on immigration sweeps.
Anchor Abby Phillip was doing her thing in proclaiming that ICE agents didn't need to wear masks in the interest of their safety and well-being. This prompted Rightside Media radio host Phil Williams to chime in to explain why they were, in fact, needed.
"My point is, if there are apps that are being created, Abby, and that's the thing, there are apps that are being created that are - the sole purpose is to dox ICE agents," Williams correctly pointed out. "And there are people showing up at their houses, and their family is being threatened. Why would we not?"
Goldman responded by questioning whether attacks on ICE were actually a thing, suggesting there was no proof behind the "1000 percent increase in attacks" number that DHS has provided.
"Do we know this for a fact? Because I keep hearing this," Goldman whined. "I have not seen ICE - we keep talking about a 1000 percent upswing [in ICE attacks]. I haven’t seen examples of that."
Williams was having none of it. "I do know this was a fact. You're ignoring the facts."
"We just had shootings in Dallas and Alvarado, Texas, at ICE facilities, you remember that, right? That's actually where people died," Williams countered, eyeing Goldman as though he had lost his mind.
After Goldman then claimed without evidence that he had condemned the attacks (even though he'd somehow managed to leave them out of a discussion about the issue), Williams added that, "That's a clear example of what we're talking about."

During another segment, Goldman tried to play teacher's pet with Phillip, saying it was interesting how often she had allegedly fact-checked the conservative panelists, including Williams, multiple times.

Williams, who had previously had to fact-check Goldman on attacks against ICE, again stepped in with a reality check. Here's how the back and forth went down:
GOLDMAN: But I think that's part of the issue that we are having is that we're picking out-- some people are picking out anecdotal stories that are not supported with any evidence or proof --
WILLIAMS: You have members of Congress of your own party protesting at ICE - (CROSSTALK)
GOLDMAN: I'm happy to let you speak.
WILLIAMS: The reality is you just poked at me, but I'm telling you right now you've got members of your own party showing up at protests, members of Congress being arrested for protesting at ICE facilities, and you want to poke at us as to whether or not we're being fact- checked? How about this? The Democrats have got the wrong -- (CROSSTALK)
GOLDMAN: What's your -- what's your -- (CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: You're absolutely on the wrong side -- you're on the wrong side of history on all of this, and you know it. You're on the absolute wrong side of history. Your party ruined the border control policies of this -- of this nation. You let 11 to 12 to 13 million people stream across the border. (CROSSTALK)
GOLDMAN: I guarantee you -- (CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: And now we're dealing with it.
GOLDMAN: I can guarantee you --
WILLIAMS: And you don't want deal with the fact that we have to deal with that.

While Democrats say and do a lot of stupid things, pretending like incidents of violence that don't square with their narratives don't exist is incredibly dangerous and actually only inspires the extremists on their side to commit more acts of violence.
Think about it - in March, amid the domestic terrorist incidents at Tesla dealerships, Goldman proclaimed that the FBI and DOJ cracking down on the perps was an alleged "political weaponization of the DOJ" over what he insinuated had merely been peaceful protests - and he said it in response to a story that very clearly noted it was "violent Tesla attacks" that were the focus of the FBI and DOJ, not protests:
This is the political weaponization of the DOJ.

Trump uses his official authority to defend his benefactor Elon Musk.
The FBI then creates a task force to use our law enforcement to “crack down” on adversaries of Musk’s.
Where are the Republicans so opposed to “lawfare”? https://t.co/PZFbafcZ8V
While the attacks against Tesla locations seemed to have calmed down, there has been a steady increase in attacks on ICE agents over the last several months, including attempts to murder them.
That a sitting member of Congress like Dan Goldman had to be reminded of that in the context of the larger discussion about the necessity of ICE agents taking measures to protect themselves is a strong indicator, in my opinion, that his not mentioning them wasn't because he simply forgot about them, but because he was hoping other people already had.
This guy continues to be outed as a shameless bad-faith actor and one whose incendiary rhetoric and cherry-picking of the "facts" are contributing to this climate where Democrats and their fanatical supporters are increasingly okay with violence as an acceptable answer to political disagreement. Good on Williams for standing his ground and not putting up with it.
