New: Accountability May Be Coming for Kamala After Biden Revelations Roil California Gubernatorial Race

As questions grew louder over the course of Joe Biden's time as president, the one person people wondered about most in the administration was his Vice President, Kamala Harris, and how she had to have seen evidence of Biden's cognitive health issues.

Harris' stock answer, the few times the issue came up in her pre-2024 campaign interviews, was to assert that the Joe Biden she served alongside was a strong, effective, and capable leader.

But even in the immediate aftermath of the infamous June 2024 debate, where the concerns over Biden's mental acuity couldn't be swept under the rug anymore, Harris was very defensive in a contentious exchange with CNN's Anderson Cooper, claiming "it was a slow start, but it was a strong finish" and suggesting it was just one night out of "three and a half years of performance and work that has been historic."

Worse, even after Biden was essentially forced out of the race and Harris was installed as the Democrat presidential nominee in his place, when Harris was asked if she had "any regrets" about telling the American people that Biden was at the top of his game when he clearly wasn't, she said "No, not at all. Not at all."

It was a disqualifying answer, and one that undoubtedly factored into her defeat.

Now, with a new book out that has revealed the extent of the cover-up of Biden's decline in the Biden-Harris White House, with even some (unnamed) cabinet secretaries confirming he had issues and was hidden from them in the last couple of years of his presidency, Harris is facing fresh questions on the issue as she reportedly mulls a run for governor of California.

And one of the already-declared Democrat candidates for governor is calling on Harris and former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, who himself has entered the race, to apologize to California voters and to come clean about what they knew.

Here's the statement issued by former Los Angeles Mayor and former California Assembly Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa:

“What I’ve seen in news coverage and excerpts from the new book ‘Original Sin’ is deeply troubling. At the highest levels of our government, those in power were intentionally complicit or told outright lies in a systematic cover up to keep Joe Biden’s mental decline from the public.

Now, we have come to learn this cover up includes two prominent California politicians who served as California Attorney General – one who is running for Governor and another who is thinking about running for Governor.

Voters deserve to know the truth, what did Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra know, when did they know it,and most importantly, why didn’t either of them speak out?

This cover up directly led to a second Donald Trump term – and as a result, all Californians are paying the price.

Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra took an oath of office and were entrusted to protect the American people, but instead Kamala Harris repeatedly said there was nothing wrong with Biden and Becerra turned a blind eye.”

Those who were complicit in the cover up should take responsibility for the part they played in this debacle, hold themselves accountable, and apologize to the American people. I call on Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra to do just that – and make themselves available to voters and the free press because there’s a lot of questions that need to be answered.”

Though Harris was quiet on the subject ahead of the release of the Biden exposé "Original Sin," Becerra has issued a statement of his own, proclaiming that he, too, didn't notice any issues with Biden beyond the fact that he was getting older:

Becerra, who entered the race in April, said in a statement that “I met with President Biden when needed to make important decisions and to execute with my team at HHS.

“It’s clear the President was getting older, but he made the mission clear: run the largest health agency in the world, expand care to millions more Americans than ever before, negotiate down the cost of prescription drugs, and pull us out of a world-wide pandemic. And we delivered.”

Good grief. Talk about a non-answer from Becerra. But good on Villaraigosa for making this a focal point of his campaign and putting former senior Biden administration officials in the hot seat, considering how Democrats will face major trust issues in the coming months and years over their calculated deceptions about Biden.

Harris has reportedly told those closest to her that she will decide on a possible 2026 run for governor by summer's end. Whether she does or not, the Biden issue is a drum that should continue to be banged in her direction for as long as it takes, whether it's from Democrats or Republicans.

The people involved in one of the biggest scandals in U.S. presidential history should be held to account in the court of public opinion, regardless of their insulting denials, and should never be allowed to hold public office again.
