As RedState has reported, the state of Maine inserted itself into the national spotlight in recent weeks after it vowed to defy President Donald Trump's executive order on protecting women's sports.

The Maine Principals' Association (MPA) said earlier this month that the EO "and our Maine state Human Rights Act are in conflict, and the Maine Principal's Association will continue to follow state law as it pertains to gender identity."

In response, Trump warned during a Republican Governor's Association gathering last Thursday that if they failed to comply, their federal education funding would get yanked. The next day at a National Governor's Association working session at the White House, Trump confronted Gov. Janet Mills over it and a heated exchange ensued, where she vowed "See you in court" and he indicated he "looked forward to it."

Since then, the war of words has continued, with the USDA launching a "compliance review" of the University of Maine and Mills continuing to assert that she will not back down.

Meanwhile, the Republican state lawmaker who helped bring Maine's defiance of Trump's EO to Trump's attention in the first place is being punished by state Democrat lawmakers who are in the majority for the crime of speaking out in defense of women's sports and the need for them to be kept segregated from men:

In a Tuesday night vote, House lawmakers voted 75-70 to censure [Rep. Laurel] Libby.

"Sharing images of kids online without their consent is a clear violation of the bond of trust and respect between citizens and their Legislators. There is a time and place for policy debates. That time and place will never be a social media post attacking a Maine student. Maine kids, and all Maine people, deserve better," House Speaker Ryan Fecteau (D-Biddeford) said.

Libby cannot vote on bills or speak on the House floor until she offers a public apology. The Representative says she will not take her Facebook post down.

The images/info Libby posted of the teenage student in her Facebook and Twitter posts were information that Libby says was publically available on Google already:

Already, video of Libby's censure being formally announced to her by the male speaker of the Maine House, as well as video of her trying to defend herself on the House floor and again repeatedly being silenced by Democrats, are both going viral:

We all know if the political parties were reversed here these images and video clips would be displayed far and wide on CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, and all the rest. But because it's a Republican woman on the receiving end of the censure, she doesn't count in their eyes.

Libby says she will keep fighting:

Nevertheless, she persisted, because as we all know, this battle is not over. You go, girl.
