WATCH: Witness Gloriously Levels Jamie Raskin Over His EDS at Hearing on Regulatory Reform

Any day Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) gets called out is a good day, and I'm pleased to report that Tuesday was one of those good days.

Raskin is, of course, one of the faces of the newest incarnation of the Resistance™ movement, being one of the loudest and most unhinged voices complaining about the Elon Musk-led DOGE's rooting out of waste, fraud, abuse, and inefficiencies in our federal institutions, even bizarrely suggesting at one point that Musk was trying to conduct a "coup" and that there was talk of "impeaching" him.

Raskin was also, as RedState readers will recall, the House Democrat who led the J6-era impeachment effort against President Trump, and who also tried to stop his election certification in 2017.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust held a hearing Tuesday titled "Reining in the Administrative State: Regulatory and Administrative Law Reform."

While the goal of the hearing was to "give members an opportunity to explore concerns about the administrative state, with a particular focus on agency rulemaking procedures and agencies' internal adjudication," Raskin and other Democrat members of the committee wanted to make Musk the focus of it.

This deeply offended one of the witnesses, author and entrepreneur Magatte Wade, a Senegal-born woman who moved to America from Africa in 1998, became a citizen in 2018, and has first-hand experience with what overregulation can do to people and countries.

Wade, who runs a business in Texas after giving it a try in California and New York, arrived, as witnesses often do, with a prepared statement, which she began reading from when she was called on to give her testimony. But she strayed from it early on in order to address how Raskin was conducting himself at the hearing.

Mr. Raskin, your words earlier really, really worried me, and I will tell you why. When you say we are here and we should be here to talk about Mr. Elon Musk and all the 'unconstitutional' things that he’s doing, and you said we shouldn’t be here to talk about regulation or anything like that. First of all, I want to say, then why did you have me here?

As an entrepreneur, my time is valuable. I came here because I thought we were going to talk about the regulatory state and why it matters. So, you need to make up your mind on that. I’m deeply offended by what you said there.

[...]

Because where I come from, the overregulation causes us to be where we are. My continent, Africa, is the poorest region in the world today because it happens to be the most overregulated region in the world. So, if you don’t see the value of [reining in] overregulation, if you need and want to wait until this country becomes like most African countries - I don’t know. I love this country and I don’t want to see it go down there.

After her testimony, Wade took to the Twitter/X machine to confirm she was proud of standing up to the pro-regulation Democrats on the committee:

Indeed. You go, girl.
