Well, as of this writing, President Joe Biden is on his way to Texas for what will be only the second visit to the southern border in his entire life.
And calling it a "border visit" is being extremely generous considering, as it was the last time, it is likely he will get nowhere near the actual border to see for himself the results of his disastrous open borders policies.
FLASHBACK-->> Report: El Paso 'Sanitized' Ahead of Joe Biden's 'Border Visit'
As RedState reported Monday, Biden's planned photo-op was already being panned by the Border Patrol Union (BPU) well ahead of his departure, with the union's president, Brandon Judd, not mincing any words:
"But even if he were to put the proper policies in place at this late hour, he’d be doing it only to try to save his Presidency. And self-serving actions when time is winding down should always give Americans pause. Common sense dictates that as a lame duck, he’d revert back to his open border policies if re-elected. Biden is going to the border now solely to try to save himself. Border security should never be about politics, it should always be about the safety and security of this great nation and the American people.”
And shortly before Biden prepared for lift-off Thursday, the BPU added this:
Attention President Biden:

Keep our name out of your mouth today.
But they weren't alone. Fed-up Brownsville residents also sounded off, saying that it was "a day late and a dollar short" for Biden's visit while noting that Biden could have done something way before now but didn't.

Brownsville residents blast Joe Biden's visit to the Southern Border.
"By a stroke of a pen, you could stop this, you don't need Congress."
"Feels like it's a day late and a dollar short."

They aren't wrong.
As we documented a week ago, reports were swirling that Biden was "considering a string of new executive actions and federal regulations" which "would represent a sweeping new approach to an issue that has stymied the White House."
To reiterate a point made at the time, the reasons why Biden chose now and not last year or even before that to consider taking executive action to stem the flow of illegals are clear. He knows it's an election year and that time is running out as far as a majority of voters are concerned for him to do the right thing. So to save face, he's now contemplating doing things that he previously (and wrongly) stated he did not have the power to do.
And the same holds true for this purported "border visit."
It's not an attempt to actually do anything meaningful about the situation he created. It's an attempt at trying to get voters to see that he's going through the motions in hopes that they'll believe he's Doing Something™ to fix the situation. The idea is to fool them long enough to win their votes in November, only to revert right back to the original positioning a few weeks later in the event he wins.
But these are things that people can see right through, as indicated by resident reactions in the clip above.
I wrote Wednesday that I strongly feel like the border crisis, as viewed through the lens of the tragic Laken Riley case, is going to do to Joe Biden's reelection campaign what Terry McAuliffe's public education comments did to him. Her case, along with years of frustration, has struck a nerve with people who have hit their breaking point with the illegal immigration revolving door, and how it has continually resulted in innocents becoming victimized.
No amount of Biden "visiting" the border is going to help him on this issue now. The dam has broken and the people will not be denied. Between this and the economy, voters have a chance to send Biden and Democrats a strong message in November:
No more.
