At the end of 2023 and at a time when the calls for him to drop out of the GOP presidential race were growing, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie cut a campaign ad directly addressing the chorus of critics who were telling him he had no chance at winning the nomination.
"Some people say I should drop out of this race," he noted in the 30-second clip. "Really? I’m the only one saying Donald Trump is a liar. He pits Americans against each other."
But any political campaign no matter what office you are running for needs to be about more than just why the other candidate(s) shouldn't emerge victorious. They also need to be about why you consider yourself the best person for the job, your qualifications, etc.
Christie's campaign never came close to getting there, though, with the desperation being so acute that they were admitting at one point that they welcomed Democratic meddling in the New Hampshire primary.
As a result, Christie's floundering campaign is reportedly set to fold, with an announcement from Christie himself said to be coming as soon as 5 pm Eastern Time Wednesday, just a few hours before the Ron DeSantis/Nikki Haley CNN debate and Donald Trump's Fox News town hall:

Here's how the Associated Press reported it:
Republican presidential contender Chris Christie has notified key allies that he plans to make a major announcement at a campaign stop Wednesday evening in New Hampshire.
That’s according to a person with direct knowledge of the former New Jersey governor’s plans who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to disclose private discussions.
Here's the MSNBC News segment, where they painted the move as something that could potentially "boost" Nikki Haley's campaign:

Earlier in the day, Christie lashed out at New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R), point-blank calling him a "liar" over Sununu's comments on CNN suggesting Christie was planning on dropping out:
“It pains me to say this, but Gov. Sununu is a liar,” Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, said Tuesday in an interview with WMUR.
[...]
“I think members of his leadership team here in New Hampshire are having those discussions with them, and that’s the right folks to do it there,” Sununu told CNN’s Pamela Brown. “He has no ground game. He’s not even trying even in the next two or three days.”
Sununu continued, claiming Christie could be campaigning harder in the Granite State because he is “running out of resources.”
Sununu has endorsed Nikki Haley in the GOP presidential race.
