'Astonishing': Chris Cuomo's Eye-Opening, Must-Watch Monologue on the Israel-Hamas War

Though it's not breaking news that most readers (and writers) at conservative websites don't care much for what Chris Cuomo has to say, it's important to acknowledge when breakthroughs occur because though we can't get through to far leftists, commentators like Cuomo can. And on the issue of the Israel-Hamas war, some unlikely alliances have (and will need to be) formed for us to have any hope of changing minds on the woke left about what's at stake here.

Cuomo, who is now a host/anchor at NewsNation after being fired from CNN after the issue involving him helping his disgraced brother Andrew in 2021 during the sexual harassment scandal could no longer be contained, talked Thursday about how he and some of his colleagues had gotten a chance through the Israeli consulate to view 47 minutes of footage of the atrocities Hamas committed against Israeli civilians on October 7th.

What Cuomo saw, he said, crystalized like never before an understanding of just why Hamas terrorists did what they did in the way that it was done, and why he understands now why Israel has - and should have - responded in the way they have and have been reluctant to engage in ceasefires and the like. Armed with what so many know about the history of the Jewish people and also drawing on comparisons to 9/11, here's some of what he said:

If an enemy wanted to make sure that Israel would come for them, the message would be to take children, women, innocents and more, tie them up and burn them alive. Just like the Holocaust. The ultimate fear of what the world can bring the Jews’ way when a decision is made that Jews are less than human and treated that way in words and deeds.

I now know that is exactly the message Hamas sent, on purpose, at scale. I was not aware of that before. They did it methodically. You hear it in the voices, the commands, the ease and excitement of finding and mutilating victims. Being told, “Let them play with it.”

[...]

The 47 minutes show a small fraction of the dead, but it makes it very clear that Hamas wanted war. This was not the irrepressible angst of the desperate who want freedom, who want better, nor certainly want anything approximating peace. They wanted the Jews to know that they want them to burn — again.

I now understand better what is fueling Israel. This is not tit-for-tat. They are fueled by the deepest fears of genocide because those fears are real.

[...]

On the suggestion to bomb less and use commandos: How does that not suggest to Israel that they have to do this in a way that Hamas can kill more of them and reduce their advantage? Stop bombing so aid gets in — will Hamas allow it in? They have a history of doing the opposite.

It is not about numbers. It is about Israel being shown its worst fears can be realized because they were.

Eylon Levy, a spokesman for the Israeli government, was as surprised as everyone else over Cuomo's admissions and shared the video clip, which is worth watching in full:

In a tweet, Michal Cotler-Wunsh, a former Israeli politician who is now Israel’s Special Envoy for Combatting Antisemitism, further explained the importance and significance of Cuomo's acknowledgments and why they matter:

Thanks @ChrisCuomo for bearing witness, & for relaying existential moment of 10/7 massacre by genocidal Hamas org committed to annihilate Israel & murder Jews - again & again.

Responses that deny, justify, & in Orwellian inversion call for genocide of Jews - on campuses, online & on streets - do not just display antisemitism in its modern, mutated strain that denies Israel’s right to exist, in any border. They fuel & empower terror proxies & their supporting authoritarian regimes that, like 9/11, mark 10/7 as an attack on ALL who cherish life, liberty & human dignity.

It is those vile and inhumane responses we are seeing over and over again that have understandably prompted alarm in the Jewish community and beyond.

Though it won't change every leftist mind on this issue, let us pray Cuomo's sobering commentary gets through to some of them, because the longer this war goes on the more Israel is going to be pressured by the Usual Suspects within the international community to pull back, which if seen through would give Hamas the opportunity to inflict more death and destruction and would inspire more antisemitism worldwide.

One effective way to counter those calls is for Israel to be able to claim that they have the overwhelming support of the public, not just in Israel but across the world, and one way to ensure that happens is to get the indoctrinated types to open their eyes and look at this issue in more than just the abstract so they can have an accurate understanding of history and what a Hamas victory would mean for not just Jews in Israel but the world over.
