As we previously reported, Rep. Mayra Flores, who was elected in June in a special election to serve out the remaining months of Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela Jr.’s term after his early retirement from Congress’ 34th District, has been under near-constant attack from The Usual Suspects both on the left and in the mainstream media because as a Hispanic conservative she is in their view not an authentic Latina.
Sadly, the hits on Flores’ authenticity and heritage are continuing, but this time around they are coming from Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, a Democrat who currently represents Texas’ 15th Congressional District. In November 2021, Gonzalez decided he would run in the state’s 34th Congressional District after redistricting, a process that made the 34th more Democrat-friendly. Though he didn’t run in the June 2022 special election, he won the Democratic primary in March 2022 for the right to face Flores, who won the Republican primary, in the general election in November.
As reported by NBC News, Gonzalez is paying a bigoted, sexist blogger to launch attacks on Flores, with one of the more recent ones calling her “Miss Frijoles 2022”:
A Texas blogger paid by Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez’s campaign is attacking Republican opponent Rep. Mayra Flores as “Miss Frijoles” and a “cotton-pickin’ liar,” prompting a wave of denunciations by fellow Democrats.
The language first surfaced three days after Gonzalez’s campaign wrote a $1,200 check to The McHale Report blog June 24 for “advertising services,” according to the Democrat’s Federal Election Commission finance report.
But the blog, which has called Flores “Miss Frijoles” 21 times since then, has not published any Gonzalez ads.
Flores took to the Twitter machine to call out the attacks, smartly using them to her advantage:
My far left opponent, Vincent Gonzalez, hired a local blogger to run hateful & racist ads against me!
But, I love frijoles & I grew up eating frijoles. I am not embarrassed of my upbringings & frijoles w/tortillas de harina is simply the best. Here's to Miss Frijoles 2022 #TX34 pic.twitter.com/7z5SRGCfUv

NBC News noted that the Gonzalez campaign and Jerry McHale denied he was paid for the posts in question, and that the campaign tepidly denounced McHale’s rhetoric. McHale, on the other hand, was not apologetic:
“Of course, the congressman is against referring to Rep. Flores as ‘Miss Frijoles’ or a ‘cotton-picking liar’,” Gonzalez’s campaign manager, Collin Steele, wrote in a text message to NBC News, echoing the state Democratic Party chair and other Texas Democrats who denounced the language as well.
But McHale would not back down.
“I am a liberal Democrat. And it’s war against the Republican … I’m going to be merciless with her,” he told NBC News.
The news outlet also quoted a Democratic strategist who in so many words suggested it was surprising Gonzalez would pay McHale for his services considering the blogger’s history:
… the language in McHale’s blog and Gonzalez’s decision to advertise with him were surprising — Gonzalez last year paid McHale $1,000 for advertising, and the blog is full of posts with racist, crude and bigoted language, like the use of the N-word and derogatory references to women’s private parts, including Flores’ body.
This is the vile garbage that Democrat Vicente Gonzalez is paying a blogger to write about @MayraFlores2022.
What an absolutely repulsive, sniveling coward.
Where I'm from, we'd call him poco hombre. https://t.co/GOzYb4kroN pic.twitter.com/tFdLuJ9kbS

As for it being “surprising” Gonzalez would work with McHale, why would anyone be surprised by this? They shouldn’t be, not when one considers not only Gonzalez’s previous attacks on the authenticity of Flores’ heritage but also the numerous other recent incidents where these types of gutter attacks from Democrats against minority Republicans took center stage in Congressional campaigns?
But then again racist attacks are the new normal for Democrats:
→@RubenGallego attacked Tanya Wheeless saying she isn’t Latina enough.
→@JFChen mocked the accent of Congresswoman Michelle Steel.
→@RepJahanaHayes compared her Black GOP challenger, George Logan, to a monkey.

As I’ve said before, Democrats are losing their tight grip on the minority vote and it absolutely terrifies them. As a result, their true colors are coming out in advance of their anticipated midterm election drubbing. Look for it to get worse between now and November as Democrats including Joe Biden continue to show us who they really are.
