Today was day one of the media/Democrat-touted Capitol riots hearings which are being held under the guise of getting to “the truth” of what happened when the Capitol building was breached on January 6th.

Not surprisingly, House Select Committee member Adam Schiff, who never came across an anti-Republican, anti-Trump conspiracy theory/talking point he didn’t like, took the opportunity that presented itself to bask in the spotlight, putting on a big show of being a fearless champion of the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power from one presidential administration to the next – all while inadvertently reminding people what raging hypocrites he and other Democratic members of the committee actually are.

At one point during today’s proceedings, Schiff was questioning a Capitol Police officer who responded to the Capitol riots. After Officer Harry Dunn spoke, Schiff then launched into a mini-speech about how this country will fall apart if people continue to “deem elections illegitimate merely because they didn’t go our way rather than trying to do better the next time”:

“I’d like to think as Amanda Gorman, so eloquently said that we’re not broken, we’re just unfinished. Because if we’re no longer committed to a peaceful transfer of power after our elections, if our side doesn’t win then God help us,” Schiff said.

“If we deem elections illegitimate merely because they didn’t go our way, rather than trying to do better the next time, then God help us,” he continued.

It’s hard to know where to start here, but let’s start with a few obvious things:

First, transfers of power should indeed be peaceful. I think very few people would disagree on that point. But as to Schiff’s related point about deeming elections as illegitimate because we don’t like the outcome, well, he’s got a lot of damned nerve trying to make that argument with a straight face considering he knowingly perpetuated the lie about Trump/Russia collusion for the entire four years of Trump’s presidency in efforts to prove to the American people that Trump was not a legitimate president.

Remember, too, that Schiff repeatedly and grossly abused his position as House Intel Committee chair to obtain and release the personal phone records of political enemies including, among others, ranking member Devin Nunes, two of former President Trump’s personal attorneys including Rudy Giuliani, as well as The Hill journalist John Solomon – all under the guise of it being part of the House’s Ukraine phone call “investigation.” This was, again, another try at ousting Trump from office because they didn’t like the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

If all of that didn’t contribute to ripping this country apart, I don’t know what did.

As I’ve said before, there are a lot of slimy members of Congress, and Schiff easily ranks in the top 5. He’s been front and center and led some of the politically-motivated “investigations” Democrats conducted against Trump with impeachment in mind.

Those are very valid reasons for no one to trust the crocodile tears and farcical examination into the Capitol riots that are coming from Schiff and his fellow hypocrites, including Reps. Jamie Raskin and Bennie Thompson, both of who raised objections to Electoral College votes when Republicans were the apparent winners.
