It never fails to amaze me how often when Democrats argue in favor of more gun control that ultimately what they do is accidentally make pretty solid cases in favor of respecting and preserving the 2nd Amendment.
It happened often during the Obama-Biden administration with regularity, which inadvertently did more to spike gun and ammo sales since, oh, the Clinton Administration.
One of the more recent instances of this happening was the infamous moment during a 2019 Democratic presidential debate when failed Senate and presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke declared “hell yes!” in response to a question from ABC News debate moderator David Muir about whether Democrats were indeed coming for your guns. For those who missed that moment, here’s a flashback:
“Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.” Beto O’Rourke reiterated his support for a mandatory gun-buyback program of assault-style rifles during the #DemDebate https://t.co/IYR3EwcwMk pic.twitter.com/jnYI9YssyC

In the aftermath, gun stores reported record sales, with some selling out of AR-15s and AK-47s.
And after Biden was projected to be the winner of the 2020 presidential election, gun sales spiked yet again, with record numbers again reported.
Now here we are some six months into Biden’s presidency, and he has now unwittingly presented us with what may be the best case ever in support of gun rights – and he just so happened to do it during a speech he gave today on initiatives to combat violent crime spikes in which he talked, in part, about the supposed need for more gun control:
“Those who say the blood of Patriots, you know, and all the stuff about how we’re gonna have to move against the government,” Biden said. “If you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.”
Watch:

I can hear the sounds of cash registers at gun stores cha-chinging and credit card verifiers overheating as we speak as the lines begin to form:
A president implicitly threatening to scramble jets and nuke American citizens is about as good a defense of the 2A as I can think of. Gun rights groups couldn’t have made a better argument. https://t.co/hCECCvXHff

“You don’t need a gun because the government can destroy you” is the best case for the second amendment any president has ever made

I should point out that this isn’t the first time that Biden has made this “argument,” but he’s the President of the United States now so obviously what he says matters a whole heckuva lot more:
This isn’t the first time Biden’s warned the gov’t would use every weapon in its arsenal against Americans https://t.co/ZBkYgXkCQ9

Well, um, if I wasn’t persuaded before as to just how vital our 2nd Amendment rights are, I sure as hell am now.
I don’t know what else to add here except “thanks for the assist, Joe.”
