After the breaching of the Capitol last week, Democrats and their mainstream media allies raised the issue of whether a COVID outbreak might happen as a result of having to have groups of people, including members of Congress and their aides, huddled together in close quarters, and also due to the fact that some of the rioters reportedly were not wearing masks.

Here we are nearly a week later, and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) has tested positive. Jayapal was quick to blame House Republicans who refused to don masks as the riot was unfolding. Here’s what she had to say on the Twitter machine earlier today:

Only hours after Trump incited a deadly assault on our Capitol, many Republicans still refused to take the bare minimum COVID-19 precaution and simply wear a damn mask in a crowded room during a pandemic—creating a superspreader event ON TOP of a domestic terrorist attack.

She then proceeded to call “for every single Member who refuses to wear a mask in the Capitol to be fined and removed from the floor by the Sergeant at Arms.”

The problem with her blaming the House GOP for her predicament is that it ignores a couple of big things.

Firstly, there’s the issue of House Speaker Pelosi allowing COVID-positive members on the House floor last week to vote for Speaker:

Secondly, video posted of Jayapal and other House members and aides shows she was crouched down with several people in House chambers – without a mask. Click below to watch:

In reality, no one knows how these members caught it. Could she have caught it from a member of the House GOP? Possibly. But it also either could have been from germs left by rioters or germs that floated in the air when COVID-positive Democrats were voting for Speaker on the House floor last week at House Speaker Pelosi’s insistence.

It’s fascinating but not surprising at all that not only did Jayapal not raise the possibility that she could have caught it when the Speaker votes were being cast, but that it could have happened as a result of her doing what she demands her other colleagues do: “Wear a damn mask.”

I sincerely wish Rep. Jayapal a speedy recovery. I also hope that along the way she recovers from her bout of selective recollection of recent events. Lies by omission are still lies, ma’am. And you told a big one.
