The MSM and Democrats are in full-scale “October surprise” mode a month early, as the crumpling Atlantic hit piece on President Trump and the just-released Trump interviews from media hero/icon Bob Woodward have shown us.

The latest entrant into their “let’s fling pooh onto the wall and see if it sticks” campaign comes courtesy of another deliberately distorted Trump quote to Woodward, this time on the issue of alleged systemic racism and so-called “white privilege.”

CBS News is one of the few news outlets that reported on Trump’s answer from a June 19th interview accurately. Before we get to how the exchange was mangled by other outlets, let’s take a look at how it actually went down:

“…And do you have any sense that that [white] privilege has isolated and put you in a cave, to a certain extent, as it put me – and I think lots of White, privileged people – in a cave and that we have to work our way out of it to understand the anger and the pain, particularly, Black people feel in this country? Do you see?” Woodward asked.

“No,” the president said. “You, you really drank the Kool-Aid, didn’t you? Just listen to you, wow. No, I don’t feel that at all.”

Here’s the audio of Woodward asking the question, and Trump’s response:

Here’s how other outlets like “The Hill” characterized Trump’s answer, though, as Twitter user Eddie Zipperer documented in a series of maddening tweets:

These erroneous reports are being widely shared on social media as we speak, including from folks like NeverTrump grifter Jen Rubin and New York Times reporter Annie Karni:

The media and Democrats have done nothing since the 2016 elections but try and delegitimize Trump’s presidency and undermine him at every turn by way of repeatedly pushing “bombshell” stories that weren’t really bombshells, by conducting show trials every few months, and coordinating failed attempts at removing him from office. They are not even trying to hide their disdain for Trump anymore, and they are counting on people to not read the fine print on their stories nor dig deeper into sensational allegations.

The reason why is clear: They have an insatiable desire to see him defeated in November, and will stop at nothing, including throwing what tiny bit of credibility they think they have left down the tubes in an effort to do it.
