Because we simply cannot rely on the national news media to ask many (if any) tough questions of the Democratic governors they have on their programs who have put the most draconian orders in place during the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, we have to look to local journalists on the ground who we hope will fill that role.
One such journalist who has stepped up to the plate is Fox Los Angeles reporter Bill Melugin, who prior to the start of the virus crisis was focused like a laser beam on the homeless problems facing they city and what city and state leaders were and were NOT doing to combat the problems.
But while he’s still reporting on and asking questions about the homeless crisis, he’s also zeroed in on demanding answers from local and state officials on their Wuhan coronavirus responses, sharing the concerns many in the state of California have as to why the reopen goalposts are continuously getting moved even well after the curve has been flattened and after the acknowledgement that the large case numbers that were projected did not come close to happening.
On the Twitter machine Saturday, Melugin went off on Newsom, wanting answers on why the metrics for reopening keep getting changed:
Have the goalposts moved? First, Gov. Newsom direly predicted 25 million Californians would be infected by May. Then we flattened the curve, the Mercy went unused, & hospitals were never overrun, which was the goal. Now we’re being told we need 14 days w/ no deaths, or a vaccine.

A Twitter troll weighed in and insinuated he was deliberately ignoring the issue of saving lies, but Melugin wasn’t having it:
Do you hate that they're basing this on daily science with the sole purpose of saving lives?

Do you hate that the same science shows 99% of those infected will recover, yet millions are out of work, countless are losing everything they’ve worked for their entire lives, and we’re heading towards a potentially worse economy than the Great Depression if we keep this up?

Melugin’s response clearly triggered the troll:
Awe, the anonymous coward behind the fake profile blocked me. I’m all torn up about it. Good riddance. pic.twitter.com/QOpczagzSd

Melugin is right to ask these questions. It’s not biased to ask why the goalposts keep changing at a time when people are struggling to make ends meet.
Local journalists here in North Carolina have been asking questions, too, about reopen goalposts, and some have complained about how various city and state leaders here have at times not been very forthcoming. In particular, the powers that be don’t seem to like questions about the models that have been used, and the continual changes in “peak” projections.
It’s been very frustrating, but the only thing local journalists can do is to keep pressing and trying to shame officials into justifying their actions, because the national media would rather bash Republican governors and have Gov. Andrew Cuomo come on to talk about his allegedly magnificent leadership skills than they would treating this issue as anything other than a partisan political exercise.
