Don Lemon interviews Democratic strategist Joe Lockhart – 2/10/2020. Screen grab via CNN.
Don Lemon and the cast of characters at CNN are nothing if not predictable.
On Monday, I wrote about how new MSNBC anchor Joshua Johnson annoyed “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd on Sunday when he said the quiet part out loud about how mainstream media journalists including the ones on the MtP panel colluded with Democrats.
Like clockwork, the day after Johnson dropped that truth bomb, “CNN Tonight” anchor Don Lemon unintentionally proved him correct during an interview he did with Clintonista Joe Lockhart about the state of the 2020 Democratic presidential race.
During the segment, Lockhart, who was former President Bill Clinton’s press secretary from 1998 to 2000, talked about his frustration over the rising popularity of presidential candidate and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) within the Democratic party:
“My worry about Sen. Sanders is very specific to the numbers. He doesn’t represent a majority of the Democratic party. The Democratic party is a center-left party, not a far-left party. Medicare for All is not popular among Democrats when you take away the private health insurance option. So he’s, you know, if we –“
But Lockhart didn’t get to finish his statement. Lemon insisted on jumping in and interrupting him in what turned out to be an accidental admission that he not only plays favorites with Democrats, but also eagerly rushes in to try to defend and explain them (bolded emphasis added):
“But Joe, Joe, let me, let me jump in here. Let me jump in here. I understand that, and I have been saying that, I don’t know, for years now since we’ve had this whole – well, actually, since 2018 – since we’ve had this whole thing about, you know, “the Democrats are moving to the left” and “it’s socialist” and it’s on and on and on.
And so I’ve been giving people the facts about the Democratic party that it’s actually a centrist party, right? It’s actually a more moderate – most people make up the more moderates. But Bernie Sanders does motivate people. He inspires people. He has an army of people who show up at his rallies. They had 7,500 people tonight. You cannot discount that, though, can you?”
Watch the segment below:
The irony of Lemon and Lockhart boasting about how “centrist” the Democratic party is is that they did it on the eve of Sanders’ win in New Hampshire. LOL.
Never change, Don Lemon. Never change.
