As I’ve written before, I can honestly say that Media Matters is one of the worst websites on the left when it comes to making false, distorted, hypocritical, or at the very least misleading claims about things Republicans, anchors/journalists on Fox News, and critics of the mainstream media say or do.
Not stated anywhere on MMFA’s website, but which is nevertheless understood by conservatives who have monitored them over the years, is that it is an unwritten rule that people who work or intern for MMFA must despise Republicans, Fox News, and anyone else who may not fit in those two categories but who nevertheless is a frequent critic of the liberal media.
MMFA’s ultimate goal is to smear those voices to the point that they either shut up or get shut down.
Former CBS News journalist and author/media critic Sharyl Attkisson has been a popular target for MMFA’s underhanded, deceitful, Soros-funded machine, but fortunately she never backs down in the face of their frequent onslaughts.
Such was the case on Monday, when Attkisson tweeted out the news that a media source told her Media Matters hacks are still after her:
A media friend recently told me the left wing smear group Media Matters is still publishing defamatory fabrications about my career, history, why I quit CBS, etc. That traditionally means I’m successfully hovering over a target 🎯. I wonder which one they’re worried about. 🤔😉

After tweeting out this information, some of her followers had some good questions about Media Matters, which she took the time to answer. One asked why she didn’t sue MMFA:
I can't even win a case vs. DOJ for govt. computer intrusions with irrefutable forensics and a confession from one of the agents who did it.
— Sharyl Attkisson🕵️♂️ (@SharylAttkisson) January 28, 2020
So is her case against the DOJ over? No:
No it’s not over I just feel jaded by the process of the past 6 years.
— Sharyl Attkisson🕵️♂️ (@SharylAttkisson) January 28, 2020
She also talked about how MMFA gets their dark money:
They use pass through fundraisers and therefore do not have to disclose. Before they went dark, they got $1 million from Soros.
— Sharyl Attkisson🕵️♂️ (@SharylAttkisson) January 28, 2020
Another Twitter user had a good question: Does anyone pay attention to anything they have to say anymore? Unfortunately, yes:
What surprised me is that the few left who do pay attention all seem to be in the news media and many of them not even aware they are a left wing smear group!
— Sharyl Attkisson🕵️♂️ (@SharylAttkisson) January 28, 2020
She also noted something many other media watchers have observed: how frequently MMFA gets referenced as a source without the publisher/outlet informing readers of their hard-left bias:
Just as shocking.. I've even seen Media Matters quoted by journalism nonprofits/watchdogs omitting context that they're a left wing smear group. Less often than a few yrs back but it still happens. (Meantime, they brag how they get stories planted at CNN, NBC, etc.) https://t.co/NYiDfIEfZA

Not only do they get stories “planted” at various so-called “respectable” news outlets like CNN, these same outlets invite staffers for MMFA on to their programs and treat them as though they are mainstream sources that have no biases one way or the other. These same outlets also parrot their talking points.
Even Democratic presidential candidates like Elizabeth Warren (MA) have been known to regurgitate MMFA’s talking points, though in Warren’s case she didn’t give them any credit. Not a big deal to MMFA in the scheme of things, though. In fact, they view Warren buying their story hook, line, and sinker as a victory.
MMFA hasn’t been around as long as they have just because of the billionaires who fund it. They’ve also been able to stick around and be a frequent player in national news stories because so-called “journalists” like Brian Stelter are eager to give them a legitimacy and respect they don’t deserve.
Kudos to Sharyl Attkisson for continuing to stand her ground against them by way of continuing to expose who and what they really are.
