As my Red State colleague Brad Slager wrote last night, Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) is under a full-scale attack from multiple CNN “journalists” and media personalities after she had the audacity to call reporter Manu Raju a “liberal hack” after he asked her whether or not the Senate should consider “new evidence” in next week’s impeachment trial.
Chris Cuomo in particular went on a particularly nasty rant on his Thursday night program, as Mediaite’s Reed Richardson recaps:
“Senator McSally, veteran, amazing record of service. Makes this stunt that much more pathetic,” Cuomo continued, just warming up. “Did she really swap all that good faith for fealty to Trump, somebody she hasn’t even backed in the past? We see the play now, the question was obvious, so was the dodge, so was the disrespect. All textbook Trump. It’s more proof of what this is all about. And here’s more proof just from her of playing from the Trump playbook. Forget about apologizing, she’s trying to raise money off the mockery.”
“Look, if you people in Arizona, if you’re looking for someone to replace McCain, okay, to take the seat that he held, McSally checks a big box, man. Amazing military service. Also a pilot,” Cuomo noted, before dropping the hammer. “But after today and after this, she bears no resemblance to McCain’s dignity, decency, discretion. I can’t believe people would vote for her to fill McCain’s seat.
Watch Cuomo’s unhinged rant below:
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) unloaded on Cuomo this morning in two tweets, noting that Cuomo, ya know, kinda sorta proved the points people often make about how CNN is full of nothing but liberal hacks:
NY Dem royalty Chris Cuomo declares “I can’t believe people would vote for” McSally, or McConnell, or any GOP candidate. Clutching his pearls, in the very same breath, he says he can’t understand why anyone might think CNN are liberal hacks…. 🤔 https://t.co/CwMGYrT0Nc

Pro tip: real “journalists” don’t (1) kiss up to every Dem, (2) refuse to ask them hard Qs, (3) relentlessly attack every Republican, (4) lie when doing so & (5) always, always push the prevailing Dem narrative of the moment. You know this, as does Manu. You just choose not to.

I’d say that sum things up perfectly.
Also, there is the war on women angle to explore here, too, right?
CNN circles the wagons around liberal hack, attacks female GOP senator. Obviously, sexist. https://t.co/OfmS822LCH
