Liberal icon and media hero (but I repeat myself) Michael Avenatti is having a no good, very bad, horrible week.
On Monday, porn star Stormy Daniels’s former lawyer weighed in on Twitter about the upcoming Maine Senate race between incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R) and her newly-announced Democratic challenger Sara Gideon (D). Here’s what the disgraced lawyer had to say:
Meet @saragideonme – the woman who will defeat the biggest fraud in the Senate – Susan Collins. https://t.co/YsbJjBxVgS
— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) June 24, 2019
Gideon has tweeted out a list of endorsements she has received so far, but for some strange reason Avenatti’s endorsement is not noted on the list.
In any event, after Avenatti called Collins a “fraud” – presumably over her vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court – NRSC adviser Matt Whitlock slid into the comments section of the tweet to point out the pot, kettle, black nature of Avenatti’s accusation (via Twitchy):
Michael Avenatti calling anyone a fraud is the most hilarious thing on the internet today. pic.twitter.com/3xH5adTDNW

Whitlock, in fact, absolutely roasted Avenatti over and over again:
Speaking of needing to focus on the children.. https://t.co/P4gt28V8BH

I'd say we could do it for charity but you'd probably steal the money.https://t.co/EMtdWc200L

To debate your not paying child support and defrauding vulnerable clients? Or maybe your help on the Kavanaugh confirmation? https://t.co/SwcV0pXyAU

Unfortunately for Avenatti (but fortunately for us), things only got worse for him the next day.
On Tuesday afternoon, he tweeted this question about “The View”‘s Meghan McCain after she pushed back on AOC’s absurd claim that border detention facilities are like Nazi concentration camps:
Other than being born as the daughter to John McCain, can someone please again remind me what the hell Meghan McCain has ever accomplished in her life? Especially as it relates to publicly commenting on issues like degrading children in custody?
— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) June 25, 2019
As you can imagine, it did not go well. Avenatti took particular issue with Ben Shapiro’s criticism, and challenged him to a debate:
Hey Ben – anytime you want to discuss any of the issues in person on any show, you let me know. Until then, step up or shut up. You and so many others on the right are nothing but twitter keyboard warriors. And when pressed, complete cowards.
— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) June 25, 2019
The responses were hilarious:
Michael, does he have to go to prison to meet you, or can you conduct the debate through that telephone and the plastic divider?
— AgainstTrumpDude (@TheAmishDude) June 25, 2019
@AOC would say that Avenatti just cat called Shapiro.

Ben, make sure when you have him on you have the cameras shoot from the knee up. It'll be hard enough to take him seriously without seeing his ankle monitor…

As Hot Air‘s John Sexton documented here, the two went back and forth for a bit afterwards but it’s not clear whether or not an actual debate will take place.
My personal view is that Shapiro should not waste his valuable time. For reasons Whitlock outlined and more, Avenatti is not worth it. He’s a dishonest blowhard, an exploiter of women, and a fraud who will say and do anything for attention, fame, and money – even and especially at the expense of the truth.
