It was only a matter of time before the emerging movement to purge pro-life Democrats caught up to Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards.
A panicked Slate reported yesterday that Edwards announced that he will soon sign the state’s fetal heartbeat bill into law:
“I know there are many who feel just as strongly as I do on abortion and disagree with me—and I respect their opinions,” Edwards said in a statement after Wednesday’s vote. “As I prepare to sign this bill, I call on the overwhelming bipartisan majority of legislators who voted for it to join me in continuing to build a better Louisiana that cares for the least among us and provides more opportunity for everyone.”
This did not sit well at all with feminist author Jill Filipovic, who logged on to the Twitter machine in the wee hours of the morning to express her opinion that Edwards was an “unrepentant” misogynist and bigot who must be purged from the Democratic party:

Not that I’m the biggest Edwards defender in the world (far from it, actually), but Ms. Filipovic needed a bit of a reality check in response – and I was happy to give it to her:
Stop acting like a total (word that rhymes with witch). Edwards is pro-life because his unborn daughter was diagnosed with spina bifida and they were advised to abort. She's now grown up, married, and a public school counselor. This has nothing to do with "misogyny", ghoul. https://t.co/zWZ4cX3imr

i'll say it. she's being a bitch.
i am not a JBE fan (at all!) but i give him credit that this is not an election move in a somewhat conservative state, or trying to take women's rights. it is as you say, because of his own personal experiences with abortion and his daughter.

Filipovic, by the way, is also the same unhinged feminist who recently suggested that pro-life men should be forced to mutilate their man parts for “every pregnancy they create.” So she’s not exactly playing with a full deck of cards, if you catch my drift.
Also, she isn’t the only pro-abortion Democrat to whine about the fact that Edwards is pro-life. Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said of Edwards earlier this month: “I’m a little annoyed with the governor of Louisiana. They’ve made some dodgy choices with abortion recently.”
Here’s the pro-life ad Edwards and his wife Donna ran during his 2015 campaign for governor, where she talked about their decision not to abort their unborn daughter Samantha:
So, to recap, Edwards is an “unrepentant” misogynist and bigot because… he refused to abort his unborn baby girl who was diagnosed with spina bifida.
The governor is running for re-election this year. It will be interesting to see how his party’s growing purge-happy wing treats him, especially once he signs the state’s fetal heartbeat bill.
