The Purging: DCCC Leader Caves to Justice Democrat Bullies, Cancels Fundraising Plans for Pro-Life House Dem

Earlier this month, pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, Emily’s List, and NARAL enthusiastically threw their support behind Marie Newman in the IL-3 Congressional race. Newman is a Democrat who is trying to primary out Rep. Dan Lipinski, who is one of the last pro-life Democrats in Congress.

Newman tried and failed in 2018 to unseat Lipinski, and decided to give it another go again this year. Not only does she have the backing of the pro-abortion groups mentioned above, but presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) has also endorsed her – as she did in 2018.

This is all part of a coordinated purge strategy that has taken shape over the last few weeks courtesy of abortion fanatics, including AOC’s Justice Democrats and Gillibrand herself. The goal is to effectively kick out all remaining pro-life politicians in the Democratic party because when it comes to abortion, nothing less than unconditional support for abortion on demand will do.

After the pro-abortion groups made their announcement, the DCCC maintained that they were going to stand by Lipinski in spite of the growing calls in the party for a pro-lifer purge. But apparently due to pressure from the Justice Dems, Gillibrand, and others, DCCC chair Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL-17) has backed out of fundraising plans for the embattled Democrat:

The head of the House Democrats’ campaign arm has cancelled plans to fundraise for Rep. Dan Lipinski — one of the party’s last remaining anti-abortion stalwarts — after facing fierce backlash from the party’s left flank.

Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) announced Wednesday that she is pulling out of next month’s fundraiser in her home state, as a slew of new anti-abortion laws in predominantly Republican states have catapulted the issue to the forefront of national politics and, likely, the 2020 election.

“I’m proud to have a 100 percent pro-choice voting record and I’m deeply alarmed by the rapidly escalating attacks on women’s access to reproductive care in several states,” Bustos said in a statement. “I’ve determined that I must cancel my participation in this event.”

Here is her full statement:

Lipinski, in turn issued one of his own:

“We both understand that (Bustos’s) most important job right now is her work leading the DCCC. We agree that it is in the best interest of House Democrats that she does not attend the event,” Lipinski said.

Bustos said that while she and Lipinski “do not agree on women’s reproductive health care, this does not change how I will work as DCCC chair to protect our big-tent democratic caucus.”

This is called “trying to have it both ways.”

It’s unclear whether or not this will appease the party’s more militant abortion supporters. But one thing that has been made clear by this is that neither the DCCC nor House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has control of the party anymore.

The Illinois primary will be held on March 17, 2020.
