With the left’s war on Chick-fil-A commencing again in cities like San Antonio, TX and Buffalo, NY, the city of San Jose, CA wants to get in on the act, too.

Earlier this week, KPIX reported that city council members were upset that over the fact that Chick-fil-A would be putting a location inside the publicly-owned Mineta San Jose International Airport. The only problem is that the council itself approved the restaurant’s inclusion back in 2018:

But to Ken Yeager, San Jose’s first openly gay councilmember and supervisor, the decision to allow it at the publicly owned airport is a head scratcher.

“This is going to be people’s very first impression of San Jose and what are they going to see? They’re going to see a store known for its anti-gay attitudes and for funding anti-gay groups. I just thought that was so unfortunate, given that we’ve made so much progress in San Jose on LGBTQ rights,” said Yeager.

San Jose councilmembers admitted that they somehow overlooked the issue when they approved the restaurant in March of 2018 in a deal that also included Shake Shack, Great American Bagel, Trader Vic’s and a brew pub. Some customers seeing the “Chick-fil-A coming soon!” sign are excited.

“Somehow overlooked”? LOL. Chick-fil-A’s stance on gay marriage has been well-known for years, to the point the activist left has organized boycotts and protests against it since 2012.

These council members knew what they were doing when they signed off on the deal. They’re just having second thoughts now because it has become en vogue again to discriminate against the restaurant chain.

Since they can’t go back on their deal, San Jose has come up with a bold solution to counter the restaurant when its airport location opens in May:

The San Jose City Council voted 11-0 on Tuesday to hang rainbow flags in support of LGBTQ people and pink, blue and white flags for transgender rights at or near a Chick-fil-A due to open in May at San Jose International Airport.

Ken Yeager, the first openly gay elected official in Santa Clara County, told NBC News on Thursday that he submitted the flag idea to the city council at the Tuesday night meeting.

“I made the suggestion to put the flags next to the restaurant, and council members liked that idea but also said that maybe put flags elsewhere, too, like outside,” Yeager said.

San Jose Vice Mayor Charles Jones said the plan is to have a flag or flags near the restaurant and outside of the airport.

That’ll sure enough show ’em.

I’m sure restaurant goers will be contemplating those rainbow flags while they enjoy some of that “hate chicken” and waffle fries. And peach milkshakes and freshly-squeezed lemonade.
