Zohran Mamdani Accused of Sabotage: How NYC’s Mayor Gutted the Biggest US Navy Parade in 50 Years

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) is facing accusations of undermining what was intended to be the largest U.S. naval parade in 50 years during the Sail4th 250 events celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

Maritime expert, CEO of gCaptain, and a member of the Pentagon Press Corps, John Konrad, alleges that Mamdani’s administration used multiple city agencies to create obstacles, including complicating Navy permits, deploying barricades that misdirected crowds, and shutting down ferry service to the sold-out Governors Island viewing area following a minor overnight storm.

Konrad cites multiple military sources, ranging from O-5 ranks to admirals, in laying out a long string of allegations on X.

"Mamdani closed the ferry to the main viewing area (on the) morning of the US Navy parade," he initially states regarding what has been reported as a "flash storm."

"There was a minor storm the night before the parade, and Mamdani ordered the ferry that services the island closed," Konrad wrote in a follow-up post. "The storm was good luck for Mamdani, but that’s irrelevant: sources within NY DOT tell me someone close to the mayor was looking for mechanical or safety reasons to close it regardless."

The New York Post reported on the storm that occurred the night before the event, noting it caused “significant damage” to the Premier Access viewing area on Governors Island, prompting organizers to cancel paid tickets and issue refunds for safety reasons.

Konrad, however, remains skeptical that such a Navy-celebrating event would cause a ferry shutdown, given that the system "is operated by teams of extremely capable sailors and marine engineers" who "eat minor storm damage for lunch."

The experienced Pentagon reporter also accuses Mamdani’s administration of making Navy permits far more difficult to obtain than in previous events, steering crowds away from prime viewing spots, and exploiting the Navy’s own safety culture to keep warships anchored far from spectators.

Konrad also hinted at even more egregious behavior behind the scenes.

Embedded tweet continues:

... forcing the Navy to cancel.

He stalked a sailor and engineered a joke to catch him laughing for his own propaganda.

He used the Navy’s own safety culture against them to keep warships far from the crowds.

He promised to promote events then did nothing to promote them.

He did favors for local media in exchange for them underplaying the event.

These are all facts from multiple sources from O5 all the way up to admirals. But they aren’t the most grievous facts, those I cannot write without official confirmation or at least a source willing to speak on background.

And he did it all via numerous NYC departments and representatives as a distributed attack while claiming he himself was supporting the Navy.

He is in full rebellion against the federal government, the US military and the Republic for which it stands.

And worse: he’s smart and was highly effective at sabotaging the event which was originally planned to be the biggest Naval Parade in 50 years.

Konrad’s detailed allegations were posted in direct response to a widely shared post by NYC Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (R), who claims that recent reports of a high-ranking official in Mamdani's administration trying to conduct shadow diplomacy counter to US foreign policy with an enemy this nation is currently at war with is another example of sabotage.

RedState's Sister Toldjah reported on the shocking story of Commissioner Ana María Archila's attempt to meet with Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, which was shut down by the State Department.

Paladino suggests Mamdani and his team, by trying to engage in talks with Iran, are conducting a “soft secession.”

"He (the mayor) considers New York an independent city-state with its own foreign policy, immigration policy, and economic policy. He does not recognize the authority of the federal government except to the extent he can extract money or political wins from it," Paladino asserts.

"The intent is to use the resources and authority of New York City to wage war against the federal government and the rest of the country. The DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) is quite open about it. They're telling us what they plan to do, and Zohran is executing."

Paladino believes colluding with Iran is just one part of Mamdani's DSA-fueled plan, noting "they will collude with any and all of our enemies."

The intent is to use the resources and authority of New York City to wage war against the federal government and the rest of the country. The DSA is quite open about it. They're telling us what they plan to do, and Zohran is executing.

Colluding with the Iranians was just another means to that end. They will collude with any and all of our enemies, because the stated goal of the DSA is to dismantle the country from within. Again, they say all of this out loud. No inferences necessary here.

In this particular case, the meeting with the Iranians was sidelined by the State Department. But the intention is crystal clear, and just because a high-profile meeting was stopped doesn't mean there isn't back channel communication and cooperation happening between the DSA/Mamdani admin and the Iranians. Obviously there is. Meetings like this don't just materialize out of thin air, and ties between the DSA and Iranian-linked fronts like the People's Forum are too many to count.

Now what are we actually going to do about this?

We're WAY past the point that it can honestly be argued that the DSA isn't an insurgency determined to bring down the country. I really think it requires a military solution now; take this out of the corrupt civil court system and use the military to roll up the DSA and charge them as revolutionary insurgents. Do it while we still can and avoid inevitable future bloodshed.

Together, the two accounts paint a picture not just of botched efforts but of a deeper pattern of defiance against federal authority.

Whether Mamdani’s administration truly set out to kneecap the Navy parade or simply fumbled the execution of a massive public event amid tight security remains an open question that deserves real answers from city officials.

We reached out to the Mayor's office for comment on Konrad's claims. We'll keep RedState readers updated if they respond.
