New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani (Communist) is mad. Some might say fighting mad.
Is it the insane cost of living in the liberal cesspool? Is it the visible homelessness and the decay in residents' quality of life? Or is it the rampant crime and a subsequent justice system that lets violent repeat offenders back on the streets?
Nay, it is none of these things. Mamdani is super-outraged that a City Council employee who overstayed his tourist visa in 2017, has no work authorization, and reportedly has an arrest on his record, has been ordered deported.
A federal immigration judge ruled Wednesday that Rafael Rubio Bohorquez, a New York City Council data analyst who was detained by ICE during a routine appointment back in January, must be deported to Venezuela after his asylum application was deemed abandoned.
Venezuela's not so bad. They are currently sans Nicolás Maduro and just won the World Baseball Classic. (Thanks, Trump!)
Mamdani, however, isn't seeing the silver lining here. And when the going gets tough, he is a man of action. Just kidding. He clenched his little fist tighter than an Arthur cartoon, and proceeded to rage on X about the decision.
"This is an affront to justice," he wrote. "A dedicated public servant with legal authorization to remain in the country, Rafael showed up for a routine immigration appointment and, despite following the rules, he was detained and has now been held for months."
The mayor demanded Bohorquez's immediate release.
Today, an administrative immigration judge ordered the deportation of Rafael Rubio, a City Council employee.

An affront to justice? Bro, to quote the legendary Inigo Montoya, I do not think it means what you think it means. And he literally did not follow the rules when it mattered.
No, an affront to justice is thinking you can overstay your visa for nearly nine years, get a plum job in government, have an arrest record—allegedly—and think there will be no repercussions.
Turns out the guy Mamdani is super-protective of was previously arrested for assault. The case was later dismissed and removed from his record.

Even with the dismissal, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) isn't buying the 'dedicated public servant' spin. They released a statement celebrating the federal judge's decision to deport the criminal illegal alien.
"Today, an immigration judge ordered Rafael Andres Rubio Bohorquez, a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and an employee of New York's City Council a final order of removal. His criminal history includes an arrest for assault," the statement reads. "This ruling is a victory for the rule of law. ICE will work as quickly as possible to return this criminal to his home country."
Adiós, Felicia. Don't let the door hit you. Turns out, breaking the laws of a sovereign nation is the actual affront to justice.
In a sane world, an investigation of what City Council members knew about their data analyst's immigration status and whether he was hired in spite of being a criminal illegal alien would ensue. But New York City is not, by anybody's definition, a sane world.
Instead, council members are banding together and vowing to fight their staffer's deportation. NYC Council Speaker Julie Menin (D) said the radicals on the council will fight the “cruel” and “inhumane" decision to deport Bohorquez.
“Raphael should be released immediately. This is an outrageous decision by the judge. There’s no justification for continuing to detain him,” Menin told reporters. “We will continue fighting, as we have every single day in the courts and beyond, until this is corrected.”
There's actually a laundry list of justifications. One has to wonder if these clowns would stand up and fight as fervently for any actual victim of illegal immigration in New York City.
That's a rhetorical scenario, of course. The city that never sleeps is a wasteland of failed liberal policies, and the one thing this group rallies around is a criminal who has no right to be in the country, much less working for them.
