A veteran U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) supervisor has been arrested and charged with harboring an illegal alien after authorities discovered the woman and her minor child allegedly living in his Texas home.

Supervisory CBP Officer Andres Wilkinson, who began his service with the agency in 2001 and was promoted to his latest role in 2021, is accused of knowing the woman's unlawful immigration status and still providing her with housing, financial support, credit cards, and even transportation with a vehicle registered in his name.

According to a federal criminal complaint filed in the Southern District of Texas, Wilkinson even allegedly drove her through Border Patrol checkpoints. It alleges he "was aware of her unlawful immigration status yet maintained a romantic relationship with her."

Court documents further allege Wilkinson "provided financial support, including housing, credit cards, assistance with financial obligations, and access" to his vehicle.

The complaint further alleges Wilkinson "traveled with the illegal alien to San Antonio and that messages indicated she and her child resided with him."

The woman, identified in reports as Elva Edith Garcia-Vallejo, entered the country in August 2023 on a non-immigrant visa and then overstayed the authorized period of stay.

Wilkinson is facing 10 years in prison and a potential $250,000 fine if convicted.

Making the case even more bizarre, law enforcement information suggests the woman may be related to the CBP supervisor, since she is the daughter of a man Wilkinson had previously identified as his brother.

The CBP Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) in May of 2025 “received law enforcement database research indicating that Garcia-Vallejo is SCPO Wilkinson’s niece.”

“The woman admitted that she had been living with her uncle, SCBPO Wilkinson, since on or about August 2024,” the complaint reads.

Wilkinson was to attend a detention hearing on Thursday before Magistrate Judge Brian C. Bajew.

If these allegations prove true, Wilkinson's actions mark a bizarre and shocking betrayal of his position within the CBP. Wilkinson's duties as supervisor included "overseeing the enforcement of customs and immigration laws," prosecutors state.

He seems to have egregiously failed to do so in this case. No role, large or small, grants immunity from the rules meant to protect the nation's borders.
