Rumors had been swirling that the troubled son was being looked at as a possible suspect overnight after the Hollywood couple was discovered dead on Sunday afternoon. Authorities had almost instantly labeled their deaths a double homicide.

Rob and Michele Reiner, aged 78 and 68 respectively, were discovered dead on Sunday after their bodies were found with injuries consistent with stab wounds. It was later reported that they had their throats slit in the midst of a heated argument.
Nick was swiftly identified as a person of interest by Rob Reiner's daughter, Romy, who reportedly found her parents' bodies in a horrifying scene.
Romy, according to TMZ, told investigators that a family member "should be a suspect" because they're "dangerous."
Nick has prominently and publicly discussed his issues with drug use and homelessness. Rob and Nick worked together on a semi-autobiographical film about the son's drug problems, called “Dear Charlie.”
“I come from a nice family,” Nick told the Los Angeles Times while promoting the project. “I’m not supposed to be out there on the streets and in homeless shelters doing all these things.”

The original "This is Spinal Tap," a mockumentary about an English heavy metal band, was Reiner's directorial debut and became a cult classic.
Reiner initially rose to fame as an actor, most notably portraying Mike "Meathead" Stivic on the groundbreaking sitcom "All in the Family." He would transition to directing, producing a string of all-time great films such as "The Princess Bride," "When Harry Met Sally," and "A Few Good Men."
