Watch Jake Tapper Back Down After Claiming Biden Cover-Up Isn’t Watergate: ‘Maybe Even Worse’

Jake Tapper, who helped CNN hide the cover-up of former President Joe Biden's cognitive decline by dismissing his inability to form coherent thoughts as a stutter, has suddenly admitted the scandal might be worse than Watergate.

Not willingly or in a forthright manner, of course. But only after being pressed on the matter by Piers Morgan.

Morgan notes the conclusion of Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson's book, "Original Sin", in which the two intrepid reporters feign an investigation into the cover-up. The authors ultimately decide that the scandal doesn't quite measure up to Watergate.

“'Joe Biden is not Richard Nixon, and the hiding and cover-up of his deterioration is not Watergate,’ Morgan said, quoting from the book. "I am not entirely sure I agree, Jake, with that conclusion.”

Turns out Jake didn't necessarily agree with that conclusion either. Sure, he was quick to parse words and say they are separate scandals. Still, he ultimately admits that the former administration's cover-up was likely worse than the most significant political scandal of our time.

“It is a scandal. It is without question – and maybe even worse than Watergate in some ways,” Tapper confessed. “Because Richard Nixon was in control of his faculties when he was not drinking.”

“This is an entirely separate scandal,” he added. “Maybe even worse … maybe even worse.”

Watergate Hero Carl Bernstein Confirms Biden’s Condition, Unintentionally Confirms Complicity to Hide It

As my RedState colleague Bob Hoge says of Tapper's admission:  "No shoot, Sherlock."

Here's the thing - Tapper is trying to convince people that the media simply missed the Biden story. That the daily videos and transcripts coming out showing Biden mumbling and bumbling about didn't cause a lightbulb to go off in their heads that 'Hey, maybe we should start digging a little more on this.'

How bad is everybody in your profession today that you missed the biggest White House deception in American political history, Jake?

Making this even more amusing is that Tapper, currently fancying himself an investigative journalist, only had to check old reels from his network to find that a Watergate reporter himself, Carl Bernstein, had sounded the alarm about Biden's cognitive decline - and revealed that it had been ongoing for almost two years before the presidential debate.

Bernstein, in an interview with Anderson Cooper, claimed aides had witnessed “15, 20 occasions” of Biden's cognitive decline in the past year and a half.

It was so bad that Bernstein noted an incident at a fundraiser where he essentially compared Biden to a corpse.

“There was a fundraiser at which he started at the podium. And then he became very stiff, according to the people there, as if it were almost a kind of rigor mortis,” Bernstein said.

“This was a year ago, almost exactly, at the old Four Seasons restaurant on Park Avenue. And he became very stiff, and a chair had to be brought for him to do the latter part of the event.”

This was on CNN's own airwaves. Yet Tapper only had the gumption to tackle the topic after Biden was safely out of office and after it was okay to admit what everyone already knew.

There are only two conclusions to be drawn here - either Tapper and CNN contributed to a cover-up worse than Watergate, or they're staggeringly inept.

Which is it, Jake?
