Hysterical Democrats Held Five Hour Protest Against Repealing Obamacare

The Democrats are in meltdown mode over the mere idea that Republicans will have the White House to compliment their majorities in a mere ten days when Donald Trump is inaugurated.

On Monday night, Senate Democrats launched a “talk-a-thon” in protest of the Republican’s gearing up to begin repealing Obamacare. In what was likely reminiscent to their days as college hippies in the 60’s and 70’s, by the end of the night twenty-four had Democrats railed against the new government in expected hyperbolic fashion.

Senator Elizabeth Warren was her requisite hair-on-fire self. “We have to make it clear every senator and every representative that votes to destroy healthcare in America will be responsible for disaster and consequences that come next,” she said on a call.

Except by all indicators Obamacare decimated the American health care system, that while having some flaws, most were happy with.

The umbrage and fury went on. According to The Hill:

Democrats painted the late-night talkathon as the first test against a unified Republican-led government as the majority party works to nix the healthcare law without a replacement plan.

“This is our first big fight against the Republican majority and the Trump majority,” Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), the Senate’s top Democrat, told supporters on a late Monday conference call with MoveOn and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC). “We’re having big success.”

Senate Democrats took over the Senate floor around 6:45 p.m. with Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) accusing Republicans of hating ObamaCare “almost as much as the devil hates holy water” as he kicked off the protest on the floor.

By the end of the night 24 Democratic senators—including Sens. Chris Murphy (Conn.) and Patty Murray (Wash.)—had spoken from the Senate floor, approximately half the Democratic caucus.

“Why we’re here tonight is pretty simple,” Murphy—who led a 15-hour filibuster last year—said just before midnight. “The repeal of the Affordable Care Act with no replacement, with no plan for what comes next, will hurt million of real people in very real ways.”

The Senators also took to Facebook Live and tweeting with the amusing hashtag #MakeAmericaSickAgain.

The Senate is expected to vote on a shell budget during a marathon session that addresses guidelines for repealing the health care law.
