Sweet Irony: Twitter CEO Not Invited to Trump's Tech Summit

Sad! The creator of the President-elect’s favorite social media platform wasn’t invited to Trump’s tech summit happening today in New York City. Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, of all people, won’t be among those gathered at Trump Tower today.

Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, of all people, won’t be among those gathered at Trump Tower today.

It’s a notable omission seeing as how Twitter has long been Donald Trump’s preferred method of communication when not in front of an adoring crowd. For years prior to and throughout the campaign, the world has been subject to the tweets of @realDonaldTrump.

From glowing praise to vicious attacks, Trump has used Twitter for it all, so it’s curious that @Jack wasn’t even invited. Although, in a recent interview the Twitter CEO expressed uneasiness with the way his platform was used during the election, saying “it’s complicated.”

Since winning the presidency, Trump has used the platform as a veritable replacement for holding a post-election press conference.

Other notables from tech giants like Apple’s Tim Cook, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, Tesla’s Elon Musk, Alphabet’s Larry Page and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will all be in attendance.

The meeting was organized by fellow billionaire Peter Thiel, who supported Trump during the campaign. Topics that are expected to be discussed will focus around jobs and immigration, particularly the tech industry’s need for H1B visas for foreign workers.
