Trump Rings in the Spectacular Freedom 250 Grand Prix Race Through D.C.

Sunday kicked off the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C.

The inaugural event will be a spectacle unlike anything racing has ever seen, as the street course takes drivers (and viewers) around parts of the iconic National Mall as they pass by some of Washington’s most famous landmarks, including the National Gallery of Art, the National Air and Space Museum and the National Archives.
The counterclockwise circuit features seven turns over a 1.7-mile temporary street course. With a total distance of 250 miles (147 laps), it marks the second-longest street or temporary circuit race in IndyCar Series history. The pit road entrance is on Pennsylvania Avenue just after Turn 1, and the start-finish line is directly west of the U.S. Capitol Building.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were in attendance and took a lap around the track in the Beast.

Right at the end of the lap, they also had a flyover by Air Force One and some F-35 fighter jets.

American race car driver Kyle Kirkwood battled back and forth early with Alex Palou. Palou had all kinds of issues and did not finish.
