The D.C. chattering class has been all atwitter over the Trump administration's actions in Venezuela.
They are, of course, all aghast about the dictator Nicolás Maduro being captured, despite the Biden administration having put out a $25 million bounty on him and Maduro being under indictment since 2020.
But you had some, like CNN national security analyst Juliette Kayyem, trying to attack President Donald Trump's actions regarding oil. She worked in the Department of Homeland Security under Barack Obama.
She posted on X:
I am curious who was whispering in Trump's ear about Venezuelan oil being easily accessible (it isn't) and coveted by the industry (it isn't). Is there some industry friend? Rubio? Miller? Beyond the legality and lack of planning, isn't the narrative now that Trump got duped?
What was funny was she got the perfect response from the folks who would know what was what - the U.S. Oil and Gas Association. They even ended it with Trump's iconic sign-off.

"Ooooh - palace intrigue - -Trump yada yada yada."
Just remember:
1- Producing crude is an inherently risky venture regardless of where it is. We take on risk because that is what we do.
2- We will always go… https://t.co/HtDRNyATbE

Just remember:
1- Producing crude is an inherently risky venture regardless of where it is. We take on risk because that is what we do. 2- We will always go where the resource is regardless of a harsh environment or political uncertainty. And when that resource is the largest in the world and right in our backyard - and the Chinese and Russians are kicked out in the process - well that is a bonus. Of course some companies will take that risk.
3- Finally. We are the best in the world at what we do. It will always be a fools errand to bet against the best in the world -- just because the chattering Lanyard Class says something is going to be hard.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yes, I think they're the ones who might know if they would take the risk.
Gotta love the D.C. chattering class getting served like this. But they're always talking out of their hats. And if their claims were true, why do China and Russia want the oil?
Right now, as we reported, President Donald Trump has them over a barrel with the blockade and is demanding Venezuela cut off oil to China and Russia. Plus, he said they would be giving the U.S. 30-50 million barrels of oil for the well-being of Americans and Venezuelans.

They are going to control that money to benefit the people. Venezuela was prosperous before Hugo Chavez and Maduro wrecked the country and sold it out. It can be that way again. They're using the blockade or "quarantine" to help control things without having to put any boots on the ground.
If they can actually pull this off, they could have a strong ally in the region, a great resource for trading in oil, and a setback to our enemies to boot.
