CNN's Jake Tapper is trying to sell quite a story with his book. 

Not the story of Joe Biden's cognitive decline, but the story that somehow he didn't realize the depth of Joe Biden's issues because he was put off by the Biden team telling him everything was fine. Not many people are buying that take. 

A lot of folks on the left are mad at him for writing the book at all because some are still stuck in the tribal "We must defend Joe Biden at all costs" mode. I see people on the left yelling at him on X over this. So he has folks on both sides of the aisle who are not fans. 

Tapper was on "The Prof G Pod" podcast last week with Scott Galloway. Among the topics was the Democratic Party's problem with men. Tapper told a story about the reaction he got from a leftwing podcaster when he said his 15-year-old son wanted to be a cop.

“Their joke was about my 15-year-old son, ‘Oh, how does he feel about minorities? Like the idea that he wants to be a policeman, therefore he’s, he’s racist, my son. And like, you know, that was the big laugh.

Then I got dragged in the comments and all that stuff and, and I thought to myself, ‘This is why you f****** are losing elections.

"You" keep losing elections, not "we." He's distancing himself from Democrats. 

Tapper said his son had no political views: He thought about football, World War II, and gaming. He wants to be a cop because he wants to help people. 

"And that's how the Democratic Party talks to men," he continued. "Not just white men, but men." 

He mocked the Democratic usage of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz "because he hunts, and fishes, and drinks a beer" to talk to men as "insane," although he noted at least they "tried." Did he say that when Walz was running during the campaign? 

The podcast he was referencing appears to have been “How Long Gone,” which Tapper was on back in April, because now the co-host, Chris Black, is firing back at Tapper. 

“Him willfully choosing to take a joke wrong, that he definitely knew what it was in the moment, I would say is only a pro move,” Black said after a clip of Tapper’s jab went viral. “He spun it for his own gain, and it’s working.”

The podcast aside, I do know that the Democratic Party's issues and their bad take on men have been out there a long time. When they're spending $20 million on a study to try to figure out how to talk to men, you know there's a problem. Even the Obama bros were calling out the problem of the people, and not just men, moving away from the Democrats to the "Trump Coalition."

Tapper is right that this is one of the reasons they're losing, although there are other reasons as well. He's calling out the issue now. But it and the other issues have been there for a while to see, just like Biden's cognitive decline.
