In the wake of the second attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump, you would like to think that the left might re-evaluate the hateful, demonizing rhetoric they are always lobbing at him in order to win an election. That is assuming that they had any conscience at all.
But we saw quickly in the wake of what happened, that the left and their acolytes in the media were as nasty as ever, with things like MSNBC and NBC talking about Trump rhetoric rather than the rhetoric of the left. You even had folks on the left initially trying to claim it hadn't happened and once again pushing a "staged" lie.

Would they even tone down the demonization of Trump for a minute?
According to New York Magazine writer Jonathan Chait, Trump is a "threat to democracy" and saying so is not "incitement."
Yes, he really said that, the day after the second attempt against Trump.
Donald Trump Is a Threat to Democracy, and Saying So Is Not Incitement https://t.co/Yfp2bxlWxL

Translation? Carry on with the rhetoric.
Now, given that the present Democrat candidate was handed the nomination by Biden and elites, without a single vote of the people in the primary for the top position, while the decrepit Joe Biden who got more than 14 million votes of the American people was swept aisde because the elite decided he was going to lose, it's a particularly ridiculous claim. Talk about an attack on democracy.
Talk about doing in norms. So now Democrats have set a whole new precedent: Hang what the voters think if we decide down the road the person they chose will lose, we'll do what we want.
Add to that the efforts to keep challengers off the ballots and once again, it isn't Trump who is a "threat" to democracy. Oh, and let's not forget the efforts to censor things that might be bad for the Democrats, like the story about the Hunter Biden laptop. But that's all apparently cool, if it's advantageous to Democrats.
Then, let's talk about all the violent rhetoric the left has leveled at Trump and his supporters. Apparently, we're just supposed to think that's fine if it's against Trump. That's not a "threat to democracy."

By the way, we actually had a Trump presidency. It was far better than under Biden and Harris.
Oh, and here's Chait's attempt to just ignore the evidence of supporting Democrats from Thomas Matthew Crooks and Ryan Routh.
Republicans claimed immediately following the first attempt against Trump that Crooks was a partisan Democrat, exploiting the long lag between the shooting and the investigation that ultimately concluded he simply wanted to murder a famous presidential candidate and deemed Trump an easier target. The second shooter, Ryan Wesley Routh, has veered wildly across the political spectrum and is, as Politico summarized his strange conglomeration of passions, “a long-troubled man with wildly swinging political beliefs.”
So let's just dismiss the Democratic donations both reportedly made, and in the case of Routh, a slew of Democratic donations, reportedly voting in the Democratic primary in 2024, attacks on Trump in his social media, or the evidence that he appears to have swallowed the "threat to democracy" Democratic mantra. Chait doesn't even mention any of that.
The last time I checked I don't think that they had reached a final conclusion on the motive of Crooks, and we've heard painfully little on that investigation. And the alleged Routh attempt just happened.
Chait was blasted into next week for his ridiculous take.
The media is now simultaneously arguing that cat memes are responsible for bomb threats in Springfield but the entire Democrat Party making it central to their campaign that Trump is an existential threat to the country has no correlation with people trying to kill him. https://t.co/WSfFKh0ofl

And it turned out the "bomb threats" were hoaxes from overseas, but meanwhile the MSM got their attacks in on Trump over them.

And that's really what it's about. We get to define the narrative, and how dare you not just accept it?
