As we reported, Joe Biden issued an official written statement Saturday about Iran's attack on Israel and the U.S. response in helping to ward them off.
Earlier today, Iran—and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq—launched an unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel. I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms.
At my direction, to support the defense of Israel, the U.S. military moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week. Thanks to these deployments and the extraordinary skill of our servicemembers, we helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles.
I’ve just spoken with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel. I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks – sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel.
Tomorrow, I will convene my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack. My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders. And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people.
I expressed serious doubts as to whether he wrote that. I also wrote about how he's led us to this point with his weakness and his coddling of Iran.

But in fact there was another problem in that statement, and it came in the first sentence, as our sister site Townhall observed. There was a huge whopper there.
"Earlier today, Iran—and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq—launched an unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel."
Um, no. They didn't just attack military facilities. Their attacks were in a variety of areas across the country, including things like the Temple Mount, where there are not only Christian holy sites but also the Al-Aqsa mosque, one of the holiest sites to Muslims. Watch as the Iron Dome takes out the attack.

A seven-year-old girl sustained serious head injuries from flying shrapnel that fell on her home in a Bedouin village.
They hit civilian areas, as the Israelis noted.
But Israeli government officials said that Tehran had crossed a clear red line by attacking Israel directly from Iranian soil for the first time in history. They also said the nature of the targets — believed to be major civilian areas and military infrastructure —required a response if their country is to restore deterrence against Iran and its regional allies.
So, not just military facilities. The only reason there wasn't greater damage or injury was because of the good defensive response to take out the missiles and the drones.
So why did Biden (or whoever wrote the statement) say that, with his team likely knowing the truth? Why do they appear to be flying cover for Iran with this statement describing the attack as they did?
Were these the "limits" that we heard about in the Turkey statement that my colleague Ward Clark wrote about? The Turkey report said that the U.S. told them that the Iran attack had to be "within certain limits."
Did Iran cross Biden up? It's incredible if the report is true that the U.S. was basically talking through intermediaries working out the nature of the attack with Iran.
